What happened in Turkish football today? 06.02.2017

Fenerbahce has aimed for tension against Besiktas but it rose into something bigger than that.

Derby game at the Turkish Cup last 16 game between Besiktas and Fenerbahce will go into the memories and history books as among of the most tension derby games between two sides. Unfortunately, the game will be remembered with actions outside of the field.

During this season, Fenerbahce has played crucial games against big clubs with providing tension against the opponents which has worked against Galatasaray, Besiktas game at home earlier in season and Basaksehirspor game at the Kadikoy. However, at the game yesterday this tension has been moved to nerve-cracking game, with some provacative actions by the Robin van Persie as he was playing against nerves of the Besiktas. However,it needs to be stated that Besiktas has also done some mistakes at the game as it became easily affected by this provacative actions. Of course, decisions by the referee Ali Palabayik and not giving yellow cards to both Robin van Persie and Oguzhan Ozyakup has affected also to the game which allowed some players to feel free of playing more games into nerves. Stating that, Fenerbahce especially during 2nd half did try to play a good football after Dusco Tosic has recieved needless red card as he played a role of referee especially when Palabayik was coming to van Persie with yellow card.

Fenerbahce played technical game of creating tension but it is certain that it didnt aim to do so much but with pressure of fans and some wrong decisions by the referee the game ended with high tension.

Administrators need to be careful with their statements.

Following the loss, Besiktas CEO Fikret Orman has stated that Turkish Cup is not an important competition and even through it is true that its not in same level as Super League title it was still unfair statement for Fenerbahce and more importantly to Besiktas players who tried hard at the group stage and on the game yesterday.

The following statement has been done to show an image that their not affected by yesterday game and to some extend their dont need to be as the aim at the Super League and Europa League are not being affected but showing this reaction after such an awaited game is not respecting all the effort given by the side during the game yesterday. It needs to be stated that such a tension prior to game has also been given statements prior to game for few weeks from him and especially Fenerbahce CEO Aziz Yildirim. To some extend, the tension has been risen at the Turkish football mainly from club administrators and also to some extend from media which are searching for scandals and sometimes creating them to raise circulation and clicks at the website. Players and fans being affected from this statements naturally do come out with nerves to the gmae and hence lead to such a nervous game at the end of the day.

In fact those kind of games has also been taken place before in Turkey when administrators made those provacative actions and statements. People involved at Turkish football should create atmosphere of football rather than complaining that there is no football when seeking for exciting news, because everyone who directly involves are affected from this statements.

There must be solution to poor refereeing.

Turkish Cup last 16 weekend quite naturally has been dominated at the focus of two games: Besiktas and Fenerbahce; and also Basaksehirspor and Galatasaray but unfortunately rather than focussing into football,  once again has been dominated those games analysis.

The problem of referees is ongoing an issue especially towards end of the season as unfortunately their been affected from outside factors and not being managing the game and understanding it. The performance of Mete Kalkavan such as not realising Emre Belozoglu red card and Ali Palabayik not being able to control game from start has affected for big tensions between clubs and federation after the games. Both Galatasaray  CEO Dursun Ozbek and Besiktas spokesman Metin Albayrak after their respective game has blamed referees and called referee actions as a plot against them. Whatever the case, the talks of video refereeing has been open for long time dominated by Basaksehirspor CEO Goksel Gumusdag. Even through this blog is against this system, as it would affect nature of game, there must be some solution for such poor refereeing.

Meanwhile, with Basaksehirspor CEO Goksel Gumusdag being supporter of video-refereeing and also being CEO of Club's Union, there might be high chance of introduction of the video-refereeing soon to the Turkish football.
