What happened in Turkish football today? 14.02.2017

Galatasaray are reported at sacking Jan Olde Riekerink.

Galatasaray  CEO Dursun Ozbek has made statement that contract with its head coach Jan Olde Riekerink has been terminated. He refused to make statement about his replacement stating that this will be discussed at tomorrow meeting but there are strong rumours that club made 1.5 year contract with Karabukspor head coach Igor Tudor.

It became clear even at the past week that Riekirink days as head coach of Istanbul giants has been numbered as their were reports that Galatasaray would use Kayserispor game as a last chance for Dutch coach. However, with them losing to Kayserispor with 2:1 scoreline it became inevitable for the talks to take place. Their are reports however that some administrators, which includes CEO Dursun Ozbek actually wanted him to stay at least until of the season. During today, Galatasaray had a meeting with Jan Olde Riekerink where it was discussing about future of his at the club. Mass media meanwhile has altogether stated that it has made agreement as club head coach with Karabukspor coach Igor Tudor which would be unethical decision as he is still at club and didnt have negotiations with Karabukspor administrators.

Galatasaray administrators are still making mistakes even with sacking and appointing head coaches, and even if Riekerink wasnt best man for team there is still big mistakes made by administrative side which would affect for rest of the season of performance of the team.

Karabukspor are furious about possibility of Igor Tudor going to Galatasaray.

Meanwhile, it is visible that Karabukspor administrators are feeling uneasy with so much rumours taking place regarding of Igor Tudor move to the Galatasaray yesterday and even more when it was reported that Tudor has agreed for 1.5 year contract.

It needs to be stated that if that is case and even more crucial Karabukspor CEO Feridun Tankut has not been informed about such a decision than its totally unethical move as the team will be left without head coach without its own fault or not being noticed beforehand. Igor Tudor has been himself in the Croatia so there is no statement from him at all so if this talks are correct than it raises high amount of questions. It also needs to be stated that Igor Tudor also rises serious questions as he basically shot behind of the back of the Karabukspor and didnt show any trust towards the team he was at until now. He has recieved lots of praise with his performance at team and also statements but all this would be wipe out from Karabukspor staff, fans and generally followers of the Turkish football if he joins Galatasaray.

It also surprising into how Galatasaray did its work of looking and finding new coach especially even starting negotiations with Tudor when he still carries on his contract at the team without big misunderstanding between sides.

Konyaspor fans attacking to Antalyaspor administrators provided some worrying image.

One of the talking points of last weekend Turkish Super League games has been between fight between Konyaspor and Antalyaspor fans following 20th week game between fans and administrators of Antalyaspor at the game which ended with 1:1 scoreline.

At the season where fans direct involvement of fights has been pretty low it was especially sad to see high number of the Konyaspor fans to show agressive behaviour to the Antalyaspor administrators. In fact, those involved should not be even referred as fans and more as providing hooliganistic and provacauteur activity. Konyaspor meanwhile does show lacking of making apology statement, and even inclined that Antalyaspor supporters were coming with knives and other similar weapons which were observed at the bus of supporters. Right now it is important to identify those fans who were involved with such hooliganism activity after game and also make it more clear reasons why those actions has been made.

This actions by fans were worrying to be observed as it hasnt been happing a lot during this season and it should not be brought back and following with Turkish sports law which aims to prevent those actions it should find those responsible and give them strong punishments.
