What happened in Turkish football today? 13.02.2017

Galatasaray players has lacked fighting spirit against Kayserispor.

Galatasaray has recieved an unexpected loss against Kayserispor as it was aiming to gain advantage after teams which are above them at the league title race have lost their games and also draw of Fenerbahce in this weekend. However, Galatasaray has joined to the teams which have lost this weekend after 2:1 scoreline against Kayserispor.

One of the issues at the game against Kayserispor from Istanbul giants was lack of passion and fighting spirit to win the game, compare to Kayserispor who gave their best shot at the game. In fact, towards the end of the season teams which are in relegation zone give extra effort to get out from there and hence teams at the top should not take them lightly. Possibly mentally Galatasaray did focus into win but it wasnt converted into physical performance by side. Another aspect is that Jan Olde Riekerink performance, who is seen by fans and media as not coach for this level due of his experience, this result didnt go to the favour at all and there is pressure for team to fire him. However, Galatasaray administrator has stated that change of head coach would push team backwards for 4 weeks. The final decision of Riekerink future will be made tomorrow after administrators meet with Riekerink himself.

Galatasaray is still at title race despite of poor results at this season and also due of fact that everyone lost games. But gamewise as been stated several times it is not at its best and hence it needs to improve if it wants league title.

Basaksehirspor needs to take lessons from Kasimpasa loss.

Even through all of the top 8 teams prior to this week at the stadings at the Super League has either drawn or lost game, including of course title contenders, the biggest suprise in sense of the result has been Basaksehirspor which has lost to Kasimpasa with 4:0 scoreline.

With Basaksehirspor recieving such a result especially taking account that it was their 2nd loss at this season, after Fenerbahce loss few weeks ago, it does provide a surprising outcome. Kasimpasa it needs to be stated has provided a great game with seeking to attack footbal and with smart tactics has provided an important game, but it needs to be stated as score suggests that Basaksehirspor has made lots of the defensive mistakes at the back and could not provide a good attacking football. This result could be seen either from lack of concentration or being too much affected from other games from this unusual week. Still such a game especially when you fighting for league title are needed in season as a lesson for unexperienced teams at this situation for rest season and upcoming seasons.

Stating all that, it needs to be stated that this blog doesnt believe that this could be seen as big downgrade firstly that it would not be right to start saying Basaksehirspor is out of league title race with just one game. It was just bad week for them and it needs to use this experience especially when table wise it didnt affect them in negative way.

Karabukspor has no intention to send Igor Tudor to Galatasaray.

Karabukspor CEO Feridun Tankut and football representative Tolga Gul has stated last word for rumours about their head coach Igor Tudor leaving to the Galatasaray for good and has criticised mass media for making this unconfirmed reports.

Feridun Tankut has stated that neither club or Igor Tudor didnt recieve any transfer offers from Galatasaray and it also needs to be stated that Galatasaray until now didnt make any statements towards ending career with Jan Olde Riekerink. It could be case of course, and it would be normal, for Galatasaray to discuss about future of Riekerink and look for alternatives for him but until now there is no official statements so no need to get over-reporting issue. Karabukspor in addition are happy with Igor Tudor, and it looks so is Tudor, so the chances of him leaving from team seems to be slim at least until summer, but there is good chance he would stay at the team after that also.

Therefore, it could be good chance to Galatasaray could be seriously interested with Igor Tudor with his good performance at this season at Karabukspor but it would be pretty difficult task to get him to the team.
