What happened in Turkish football today? 08.11.2016

Genclerbirligi appoints Umit Ozat as new head coach.

Genclerbirligi has appointed new head coach Umit Ozat until end of the season after announcing mutual resignation  of the previous head coach Ibrahim Uzulmez. Despite of Uzulmez, providing a good result in previous season due of misunderstanding between sides it was agreed for his resignation.

Genclerbirligi CEO Ilhan Cavcav has stated during ceremony of signing of Umit Ozat that main reason of decision to end contract with Uzulmez was his habit to praising his new signings, which he wanted himself when club has won game but criticising them and also administration when results was going bad. It needs to be stated that Genclerbirligi did start season in a good way but still has shown occassionally good football and didnt lose much games during the season. Therefore, taking of the situation of a team it needs to be stated that Uzulmez did good job but as stated didnt go with great understanding with administration. Umit Ozat does have some experience as head coach in Turkey and hence could provide possitive effect to a team and provide even better performance even through its hard for him to expect top 5 position comparing to level of teams at top performing.

Meanwhile, this has been 42nd coach in duration of Ilhan Cavcav  who has been CEO of club since 1988 and has give all his effort to a team but is known to change coaches in many times especially in recent years. The time will show how long Ozat would stay at the team.

Burak Yilmaz and Arda Turan have been selected to the Turkish National Team.

Turkish National Team preparation for the World Cup 2018 qualifier 5th week game against Kosovo has been started in Antalya where biggest focus has been given to the return of the players such as Burak Yilmaz and Arda Turan after not being selected to a team since Euro 2016 completion.

It is reported that return of those players has been made other national teammates to be raised at the mood and looking forward for Kosovo game. However, there is lots of question about calling those players back to Turkish National team as head coach Fatih Terim has stated that those players would been called after their give public apology of things which was not clear. It does need to be stated that we never got this apology and this issue has not been solved in public-wise even through both sides seems to be happy right now with selection. It is reported that moderator of those issue has been Basaksehirspor player Emre Belozoglu which led for both Arda Turan and Fatih Terim to talk at the phone and whatever has been talked about it has been mainly achieved by moderator skills of Emre Belozoglu.

It needs however to be stated that both of those players, stars of the national team has been selected to most easiest game at the group and their would been more useful for the games against Croatia, Iceland and Ukraine after which Turkey got only 2 points.

Hakan Kutlu was close to resign from his post at Kayserispor.

Following Kayserispor game against Osmanlispor, Kayserispor head coach Hakan Kutlu has announced that he would be call for resignation after talking to the team administration however administration didnt accept his resignation.

It became clear from Kutlu statements later that he was affected by the fact that Kayserispor CEO Recep Mamur has entered to the changing room during half time and has spoke agressively and angrily to number of players and even through it was adressed only to players, Kutlu has been affected from it negatively. After talking to the administration, Mamur has convinced Kutlu to stay as head coach and this short crises of the Hakan Kutlu has been solved in well-mannered form. However, this incident does show that Hakan Kutlu and administration relations are not very strong and some changes to a team might happen soon even during this national team break.

Hakan Kutlu does do good job at the team which are in tough situation and it would be wrong to send him as its hard to find replacement in that level right now but as said if things are serious at the team between both of them than his days might be numbered at the team.
