What happened in Turkish football today? 07.11.2016

Ambulance case regarding of Robin van Persie eye injury has overshadowed Fenerbahce win.

Fenerbahce win against Akhisar Belediyespor during Super League 10th week game has led them to get 4th win back-to-back which includes last 3 weeks at the Super League and Europa League game against Manchester United. With following result, Fenerbahce carries on its impressive start and has certainly regained huge motivation prior to Galatasaray derby game which will take place after national team break.

It needs however to be stated that game has been mainly dominated by the ambulance incident where according to some reports Fenerbahce player Robin van Persie has waited for it to arrive for around 15 minutes after he became injured to his eye after hand of Akhisar Belediyespor has been touched by accident. There were strong reports that following injury could affected to his vision and even he could have lost an eye but luckily and with correct medical work his case is not serious and he expected to start training session during this week. The ambulance however has been led to what media has referred scandal where both Turkish Football Federation, Akhisar Belediyespor and Ministry of Health has stated that since decision to take van Persie to hospital was decided outside the field, inside ambulance could not arrive to outside and its been called from nearby hospital which has arrived to the stadium with a 5 minute delay. What is important here that treatment was done rightly and Robin van Persie injury wasnt as serious as was feared.

In overall, taking account that game was not very exciting this ambulance case has overshadowed game where Fenerbahce player Aatif Chahechouhue became star with great performance by scoring a goal and providing assist to van Persie.

It is not correct to blame Besiktas for Mete Kalkavan mistake at the Yusuf Erdogan incident.

The arguments regarding of the referee of the Besiktas and Trabzonspor game during Super League 10th week game has been carried on actively where it has build even more to the arguments regarding if Besiktas gets additional help from referees and referees providing double standards in their games.

Besiktas in its defence and quite rightly did state that their also get damaged by referees in previous games and would get damaged in future. I say quite rightly, because every team becomes affected by usually questionable decisions by the referees in this league. But in same time it needs to be stated that top 3 of Istanbul clubs  has always and will always, sadly, get those help from referees. It is hard to state specifically if referee Mete Kalkavan has made done this mistake purposefully, as this blog will not point direct fingers to anyone, but one thing is certain is that this mistake is a huge one and should not be repeated by Kalkavan or anyone else. However, throwing this argument, at which also Galatasaray administrator Levent Nazifoglu has been involved also against Besiktas and stating that its 2nd place is with the help with referees. It is especially wrong taking account that Besiktas head coach Senol Gunes did state that it could been given red card while Ricardo Quaresma has acknowledged that his action were too harsh and has apologized to Yusuf Erdogan after game.

It is important to find solution to this usual occassion among referees rather than throw blames to them and to clubs. And this job should be done by Central Referee Committee by preparing and when needed punishing this performance by referees.

Wesley Sneijder needs to understand that he is not boss of Galatasaray.

One of the most talked points of this weekend was behaviour by Wesley Sneijder following Super League 10th week game against Basaksehirspor where he had thrown all the blame to his teammates for the loss against leading team of the league.

This behaviour once again shows that Sneijder has a lot of ego and does have direct influence to the team which includes saying to some players to wake up and criticised Fernando Muslera before conceding 2nd goal at the game. This led to number of players and administrators to believe that Sneijder is passing his right to behave due of his huge ego. It will not be surprising that he might recieve some punishment, even through being a key player at the team it is unlikely that it would be as hard as Yasin Oztekin being taking away from squad after Adanaspor game. Galatasaray has now an important task to show that every single player is equal and best way to do that is to punish Sneijder pretty harshly.

Meanwhile, Wesley Sneijder either needs to understand he is not boss of Galatasaray or at least someone at the club make him to understand it or otherwise his actions will damage club and himself also.
