What happened in Turkish football today? 20.11.2016
Galatasaray didnt manage to win Fenerbahce at Kadikoy once again.
Fenerbahce has raised its tally of not losing to the Galatasaray to the 18 years with the 2:0 win at the Super League 11th week game. With such an important win it has raised at the standings to the 4th place with overpassing Galatasaray with 1 point after this game.
The main role for this important win for Fenerbahce has come from 2 goals which were scored from Dutch star player Robin van Persie who have scored a great goal just before half-time whistle and also has converted penalty kick which has come from Serdar Aziz foul to Josef de Souza at the 2nd half. Fenerbahce it needs to be stated has provided much better organised football during whole game with having better plan and also converting them into chances. Even through for most of the time the game has been played at the midfield area, especially during 1st half when Fenerbahce did go forward it looked to be more organised compare to its opponents. Fenerbahce has provided great tactical play without allowing Galatasaray to get control of the game at any moment of the game and has shown that as a team it was coming to today's game in much better form and are over from poor performance it had at start of the season.
Meanwhile, apart of scoreline Galatasaray hlasas shown in this game that it carried on downside also regarding of the performance wise. Even through in sense of having possession it wasnt in similar numbers as Fenerbahce it could not show any effective game with this control game. Galatasaray didnt show much fighting spirit and it didnt look like it could make an history by finally winning at the Kadikoy after 17 years. As the game progressed, it was also became obvious that Galatasaray did get into nervousness of losing another game which has been one of the main issues for Galatasaray in last games of the league. This game would surely open warning signs for Galatasaray and it would need to do some revisions to get up and start providing better results at the upcoming weeks if it was to be at the title race before winter break.
Fenerbahce has won great game and surely would get a motivation boost for rest of the games until midseason break and has gained lots of motivation for the upcoming games including at the Europa League 5th week game against Zorya which win could bring them into next stage of the tournament. Galatasaray meanwhile needs to improve as it start not only losing games but also showing poor performances.
Besiktas wins against Adanaspor without giving too much effort.
With obtaining a confident win against Adanaspor, during Super League 11th week, Besiktas has got back its leadership at the standings at least for 48 hours prior for Basaksehirspor game on Monday against Rizespor. Even more importantly it has got a motivation prior to the crucial Champions League game against Benfica on 23rd November.
As been stated at the blog yesterday, the scoreline of 2:1 could have shown it was pretty an intense game, but with Besiktas finding two early goals at the game yesterday their had played pretty economical football. The goals which came from Vincent Aboubakar on 11th minute and Cenk Tosun at 17th minute has allowed Besiktas players to become much more relaxed and play much more calm football. This performance has certainly has affected team to concede goal at the penalty kick. Meanwhile, Adanaspor red card at the 2nd half has also helped Besiktas to get a confident win at the end of the game. Besiktas didnt play its best football in the sense of attacking but in same it didnt use much energy prior to Champions League crucial game against Benfica.
Despite of not finding same amount of goals as was done in the last season by the team it still carries on providing top class football from last season and still continues to provide high class football.
Trabzonspor and Antalyaspor will come to game which it both need to win.
Trabzonspor will restart their season with a game against Antalyaspor which it would be aiming to win as their aware that their team is capable of good results and would surely aim for nice results at the upcoming games.
It is certain that for this game specific attention would be given to the referee of the game Metin Kalkavan. The reason for this is intense criticism of referees performance by Trabzonspor following some questionable made during Super League 10th week game while Antalyaspor CEO Ali Safak Ozturk has stated that their feel Kalkavan would recieve too much pressure. Apart of the referee situation prior to the game it is also known that both teams does need to win as their aware that their performing worser than would be expected by them, especially for Trabzonspor who historically considers to be 4th team at the Super League. Meanwhile, the biggest problem which Antalyaspor is injury of Samuel Eto'o who is not available for 4 weeks.
Therefore, with this taking account and also recent performance, Trabzonspor does come out to this crucial game as favourite and expect to control game in much more better way.
