Kerim Frei 2 goals has brought win to Besiktas against Darica Genclerbirligi.

Besiktas had some surprising difficulty  at beating Darica Genclerbirligi at the 1st game of the group stage at the Turkish Cup even through it could be explained due of team playing with youngsters who hardly had experienced time to play at the senior team and also poor condition of the field in Izmit.

Fenerbahce are showing its best performance right now with Dick Advocaat.

Fenerbahce has certainly provided an improved performance of its football for the past months and has left no signs of bad start of the season it had. This uprising performance by team has been clearly been observed during Super League 12th week game against Rizespor which it has won with confident scoreline of 5:1.

Probably the main reason for this confident win lies down with "perfect" hat-trick from Moussa Sow who despite of scoring good goals, including overhead, has provided also great team play. The 1st goal of Fenerbahce, which Rizespor argues was offisde, on 27th minute has changed also game entirely for Fenerbahce as it has started game in pretty poor form with Rizespor controlling game. It was clear that some serious actions needed to be taken and one of them was to put effective player Miroslav Stoch who has found a high-class from outside of the penalty area which led Fenerbahce to  play more confidently at the front, This win has put them into leadership of the group and would now play against Feyenoord on 8th December at the game where draw is enough.

Fenerbahce will have tough game at the Holland but it can achieve its task if it gives full attention to the game and provides great performance at crucial games which it seems to be achieving in last few games.

Osmanlispor was close for last 32 at the Europa League. 

Osmanlispor was very close at the game yesterday against Steaua Bucharest to become first team among Turkish teams to qualify to knockout stages of the Europa League and it was achieving this task during 1st half.

Osmanlispor has been dominating game at the first half and among Ndiaye goal at the 30th minute has shown a view that it would achieve its aim with 1 game in hand but Steaua Bucharest has shown great response at the 2nd half which led for all teams at the group to be able to qualify to next stage. Osmanlispor has shown great game yesterday but unfornutaly for them couldnt show great response to the comeback of Steaua Bucharest which needed to win the game to have any chances for knockout stages. The draw between Villarreal and Gent has led for a group to be very competitive and more likely winners of two games will be ones who would get to last 32 stage of the tournament, where Osmanlispor has deserved to be.

Osmanlispor would play against Gent at the last week and if it ends game with the win it would get to last 32 regardless how other game ends and hence we would recieve an exciting conclusion to Group L in 8th December.

Fenerbahce wins Zorya despite of poor performance at 1st half.

Fenerbahce has won an important game against Ukrainian side Zorya with 2:0 scoreline despite of providing very poor football at the 1st half and wasnt able to get upper hand at that half. However, entrance to the field of Miroslav Stoch at the 2nd half has help Fenerbahce to raise tempo at the game for its favour.

Fenerbahce has shown signs of tiredness following a hard and important game back at the Super League 11th week game against Galatasaray on 20th November which certainly affected to the performance at the first half. This slow and disorganised game has led Zorya to control even more and creating some chances during 1st half. However, with the entrance of the Miroslav Stoch at the 2nd half has led them to have faster game and scoring his classical goal from outside of penalty area which brought a team 1st goal during the game. That goal has certainly allowed Fenerbahce to play more confident game which has led to more effective attacks at the Zorya goal which led to Simon Kjaer scoring 2nd goal within 10 minutes after Stoch goal. Fenerbahce has shown good football at the 2nd half and has carried on winning at home ground which has raised to 9 games at the Europa League.

Zorya meanwhile has shown some brave football especially at the 1st half and apart of defending was going forward and showed that it aims to provide an attacking football regardless who is opponent. Despite of not great results, Zorya has shown positive mark to the group with brave football and attitute to the game.

Fenerbahce carries on providing its great performance and now would focus into Feyenoord game. It would come out right now for sure at high confidence against Rizespor which could lead them to Rize have tough time on 27th November.

Osmanlispor has lost chance to get to 2nd round in game against Steaua Bucharest.

Osmanlispor has lost good chance getting to the knockout stages of the Europa League despite having one foot at qualifying from the group with one game at hand as it was winning the game with 1:0 1st half has  but Steuau Bucharest after shown comeback and have won game with 2:1 scoreline.

Osmanlispor has provided very confident game at the 1st half despite of playing against strong team with controlling the game and finding an important goal at the 30th minute by Ndiaye. However, Steaua Bucharest was always seen as dangerous opponent to Ankara side and it has shown great response during 2nd half which Osmanlispor unfortunately couldnt provide good reaction against. In fact, Osmanlispor could have won game where Ndiaye has played a bit egoistically or if he did provide good pass at the attacking their could have find 2nd goal. Osmanlispor lost its chance to get to the next stage and right now would play a crucial game against Gent which could decide which team would get into the knockout stages among Villarreal and Steaua Bucharest at the group where all 4 teams have chance to qualify.

Steaua Bucharest needed to win today to still have chance for the last week games and it has shown that reaction at the 2nd half and does show that it will try to get 2nd round ticket during last game against Villarreal.

Osmanlispor has lost its chance to mark its history by getting into 2nd round with today's win which it was close to but it has still has good chance to get to next stage if it manages to win against Gent at home and this task could be achieved by them.

Konyaspor are out of the Europa League after loss to Shakhtar.

Konyaspor has been eliminated from Europa League with one week to go with losing to Ukrainian giants Shakhtar Donetsk and unfortunately has marked its place as worst performance among Turkish teams at the European tournaments this season.

Konyaspor has played with strongest team at the group which until this game has carried on 100% record and has shown similar seriousness to the game with dominating game and winning with the confident scoreline of the 4:0. Konyaspor did try to find response but it didnt manage to provide that response strong enough and had difficult time at controlling the game. The unlucky period has started with Konyaspor player Bardakci scoring an own goal which has surely affected motivation of the Konyaspor at the 11th minute which has also led for such poor result for them and also provided motivation for Shakhtar Donetsk.

Meanwhile, Shakhtar Donetsk carries  on its good performance at the Europa League showing itself to be one of the favourites to win the tournament at the end of the season. It would now certainly focus to end group with 100% record.

Besiktas has made great come back with losing 3:0 to Benfica, by drawing with 3:3 scoreline.

Besiktas has made one of the memorable comebacks in the history of Champions League and certainly in the history of Turkish football while losing to the Benfica after 1st half with 3:0 scoreline but later cameback making scoreline to 3:3. The game to some extend has reminded Liverpool comeback in 2005 Champions League final game  against Milan, incidentally also game taking place in Istanbul.

It does need to be stated that game should be analysed with two different halves as Besiktas has played very poorly at the 1st half and has conceded 3 goals in duration of the 30 minutes providing an image of showing worst football at this season, but with the goal coming by Cenk Tosun in 58th minute it has become as first goal of the great comeback. Surely, Besiktas head coach Senol Gunes during half-time has provided an incredible boost probably getting angry to the players and waking them up and making some changes at the squad including bringing Cenk Tosun at the 2nd half. With Benfica certainly not awaiting such a development at the game and also Ricardo Queresma penalty goal which came into 82th minute has become turning point at the game which allowed Besiktas to make its historical achievement. With following scoreline Besiktas still has good chances at getting to the knockout stages if it wins against Dinamo Kiev in last week of group stage regardless of Benfica and Napoli game ends. Taking account Dinamo Kiev is out of Europe altogether their good chance.
Benfica has started game in great manner and has shown very attacking football in 1st half to the away game looking like it has won game but this leadership calmness didnt allow them to react fast enough for this incredible comeback football by Istanbul side. Its still has upper hand to qualify at the group with 8 points through.

Besiktas carries on without losing at the Champions League and Vodafone Arena and will look forward to Dinamo Kiev and also for Basaksehirspor game at this weekend which would decide leaders of the group.

Fenerbahce will play against Zorya at its highest confidence and motivation.

Fenerbahce would be coming out for the Europa League Group A 5th week crucial game against Ukrainian side Zorya in a great confidence from recent performance, including win against Galatasaray at the league on 20th November. It also needs to be reminded that factor of Fenerbahce securing last 32 stage with 1 week to play would provide additional motivation.

Osmanlispor will mark history if it wins Steaua Bucharest tomorrow.
In similar manner Osmanlispor are very close to get to the knockout stages of the Europa League and mark its history as it would be incredible achievement by Turkish club at the European tournaments, adding factor that it has started campaign back on July at the qualifying stages.

It would play a game against Steaua Bucharest who urgently needs to win the game if it wants to have any chances at getting to the knockout stages. What happened in Turkish football today? 22.11.2016

Trabzonspor is getting into dangerous situation by losing to Antalyaspor yesterday.

Trabzonspor carries on its poor performance at the Super League following 1:0 loss to the Antalyaspor during 11th week game and has found itself with only 2 points behind of relegation zone which certainly does raise number of questions about the future of the team at this season and its performance.

Our blog has stated several times at this season that Trabzonspor was seeing this season as an transition period and in fact it did play number of games which were played at high and top class level  football however with high number of losing points this season slowly becoming more like poor rather than unstable season. Trabzonspor as with most of the games did show its willingness to win the game with high number of attacks to Antalyaspor goal but intense defensive by their opponents didnt allow them to find goals. This in fact shows that team does have an issue of forward players who have at difficulty at creating chances and provide last touches to score a goal. In fact, Antalyaspor head coach Riza Calimbay was unhappy with such high number of defensive game by his side and despite of winning wasnt fully satisfied with performance. It is just crucial for players to show much more active football if it wants to win games this season.

Trabzonspor could find itself at very critical condition until midseason break and surely needs to use the break in an effective way especially taking account that extra week was given by Turkish Football Federation on January.

Besiktas needs to win Benfica game if it wants to be almost at the knockout stages.

After very successful performance at this season Champions League, Besiktas would be coming back to this tournament at the game against Benfica which it needs to win for it to make its chance to get to the next stage of the tournament more likely.

As it is known right now, Benfica and Napoli are leading at the group while Besiktas is one point behind them and is certainly aiming to get to the knockout stages of the tournament. Rignt now, the fate of their is at their hands since as their will enter to last week of the group stage, it has chance to overpass Benfica and would come to Dinamo Kiev with high hopes. Otherwise, it would be dependant to Napoli-Benfica result if it fails to win tomorrow. Besiktas as it is known didnt yet lose game at its home ground Vodafone Arena and certainly aims to carry on this performance at the game tomorrow with the help of the fans would aim to provide one of its historical wins at the game. One of the issues with the team is high number of injured players but as always it has strong substitute and those players would be able to fill spaces of those players.

Besiktas has good chance of beating Benfica with form their providing at this season and hence it has capability to achieve that even through their need to be careful as Benfica with their expeirience has been in similar circumstances and knows how to cope with those difficulties.

Turkish Football Federation has added extra week for midseason break.

Turkish Football Federation has announced that the mid-season break has been extended with 1 week after some of the clubs, with leadership of Antalyaspor, has asked for the league to be extended to help them to prepare longer for 2nd half of the league and also have effective midseason transfer window season.

This talks of not having enough period for preparation has been openned at the last season with Turkish Cup being played almost straight away after midseason break started when it was argued that teams cant get effective mid-season training camp but this was ignored by football federation. Surely, without Euro's or World Cup taking place next summer it has allowed TFF to follow this demand and move starting date for Super League of 2nd half from 7th January to 14th January which would allow clubs to have preparation, play friendly games and focus into transfers by administrators side. It just an important for clubs to use this extra week more effectively and make it meaningful for their performance.

This time TFF compare to last season had at least accepted its mistake with season planning and had changed which is good move, compare to last season where planning was wrong and also stubborness from them when it was identified of poor scheduling by clubs.
