Fernando Santos provided strong confidence to Besiktas
Besiktas newly-appointed Fernando Santos has started his period with a confident win against Fatih Karagumruk at home ground even through it did take some time for opening goal to be coming as Semih Kilicsoy continues to score goals.
Prior to the game, there were expectations that appointment of Fernando Santos as club's new head coach would have an important impact as for long time Besiktas supporters also has filled stadium both to provide packing to team and also provide good impression of its culture to Santos. Even through it did take some time for Besiktas to find first goal during goal, Besiktas still did show some good positive performance with providing good willingness game. It has been also been specifically important for 18-year old Semih Kilicsoy to find an openning goal and hence opening game with finding goal at difficult angle and hence scoring 5th goal. After finding this goal and also scoring after 2 minutes from Milot Rashica, Besiktas did get full control of the game and did provide some positive image for upcoming games.
Fatih Karagumruk who certainly wouldnt like to play against Besiktas in this week, did provide some good defensive game for 62nd minute and also did create some chances but still couldnt provide performance where to get at least point.
Besiktas hence which been criticised in recent week is showing dominant game for 2 weeks with finding 7 goals and didnt concede and hence does provide some promising for upcoming weeks with fighting for 3rd spot at table.
Fenerbahce would be aiming to keep its point difference against Galatasaray.
Following getting into leadership with point difference against Galatasaray, Fenerbahce would be aiming to keep its advantage of two points in tact at least as it would be playing struggling Gaziantep.
As been noted, several times at our blog in this season its not only every point which counts but to some extend every win would be counting in intense race between Fenerbahce and Galatasaray. And hence even through 2 point difference normally would be seen as small difference, in this season it could be enough to get title. Therefore, Fenerbahce would be aiming to keep its winning run and provide pressure to Galatasaray this time with point difference. It also needs to be reminded that Fenerbahce are not winning but doing in confident manner as it has scored 12 goals in 2 games of 2024 with conceding 2, and hence it would be aiming to carry on not only its winning run but also goal scoring run against Gaziantep. Gaziantep on their part would be focussing into providing defensive game when looking how much Fenerbahce are scoring.
Fenerbahce are coming out as clear favourites and to all respect to Gaziantep losing points for Istanbul giants will be seen as big surprise.
Trabzonspor aim is to win with boring football.
Even through Trabzonspor does getting back-to-back wins and did secure its 3rd spot for time being, it is still showing unsatisfactorily and boring football on the field.
Normally we would be stating here that with Trabzonspor getting its winning run and making its realistic aim for 3rd spot to be stable for time being it would be expected for them to be focussing into improving game play. However, Abdullah Avci press conference after last game showed that he would be focussing into getting result than performance and hence it would be expected for them to provide low tempo and controllable game. It would be interesting to see how Antalyaspor.
Trabzonspor are getting its winning run but game it plays doesnt excite most people and it is expected to be played in similar manner against Antalyaspor.
