What happened in Turkish football today? 05/04/2022

New CEO of TFF needs to from football past.

TFF CEO election will be taking place on 16th June as Nihat Ozdemir has resigned from his post on 4th April which as been noted on previous post has been expected decision but did come during unexpected time.

With Servet Yardimci taking caretaker role until election day, it needs to be noted that Turkish football is being at difficult period both with performance and systematically and it needs to be admitted that parts of this has been led from direct decision from Nihat Ozdemir which includes national team run, league system and also foreign players limit. There were times, when it did look like TFF did make decisions without actually understanding much how football is being played especially when coming to referee decisions. There are currently not yet candidates as this decision did come on unexpected moment, but it would be crucial for new CEO to be someone who has long football history, possibly being player or referee who later continued in such position such as coach and administrators so that person would understand how football is being run.

Nihat Ozdemir wasnt successful one for Turkish football and his inexperience with the game did play lots of role.

2 more TFF administrators have resigned from they post.

Resignation at the TFF has continued to be taking place Erhan Kamisli and Alkin Kalkavan has resigned from their post following resignation of TFF CEO Nihat Ozdemir.

It needs to be mentioned that there been back to back resignation at the TFF or Central Referee Committee which does show there are lots of issue and problems happening in Turkish football which includes broadcasting rights, referees and also general aspects and there is expectation for more similar decisions to be taking place in upcoming weeks as TFF is being on critical situation. At short, Turkish football is going some drastic changes right now and time would show to what it would bring eventually.

Upcoming TFF administration without doubt would have lots of issue to be solved when it would be elected on 16th June.

Besiktas has send foul breaking law complaint to TFF

Besiktas has send official request regarding of breaking rule to TFF during Super League 31st week game against Trabzonspor at 47th minute free-kick position which been taken at wrong spot.

According to rule, free-kick which did come from back pass from Trabzonspor player Huseyin Turkmen to goalkeeper has been decided to be so and free kick decision been taken. Free-kick has been taken from spot where pass been taken but according to rule it needs to be taken on line across goal into closest spot when foul has been taken. It is very likely for break of law would be accepted but it is questionable if it would been given for repeat game which comes as it had direct impact to scoreline as it is unknwon if it would been goal or not.

Besiktas did do right thing and now next step would be for referee committee to question referee of game Zorbay Kucuk.
