What happened in Turkish football today? 21/04/2022

Sivasspor got upper hand thanks to Kesgin goal in last minute.

Sivasspor has got an important win against Alanyaspor during Turkish Cup semi-final 1st leg game with 2:1 scoreline thanks to the goal from Kesgin on last minute especially when team played with 10 men for whole 2nd half.

It could be noted that Sivasspor didnt necesarilly start game well and didnt get too much defensive game as it conceded from free-kick which did come from simple mistakes from goalkeeper. But the team has managed to respond correctly straight after and slowly got control of the game which it raised until end of the game and has created high number of chances as it did find equaliser with Yatabare. Stating that Yatabare after got unnecessarily 2nd yellow card as he continued complaining about position. As would been expected, Sivasspor has focussed into counter-attacks during 2nd half and it did pretty well and got win thanks to the effective organising game.

Sivasspor did get upper hand in this tie but with away goal rule not being present from this season, there is still task needs to be done in 2nd leg.

Alanyaspor showed passive game against Sivasspor on 2nd half.

Despite of starting game on positive note and scoring goal with Emre Akbaba on 6th minute, it could be noted that Alanyaspor did show dissapointing performance against Alanyaspor.

Alanyaspor did provide poor performance after scoring goal and continued to do so after getting 11 players during 2nd half and has lacked creative attacking game and couldnt overpass organised Sivasspor defensive game. Therefore, Alanyaspor did show an attacking game during 2nd half but still didnt provide much performance which would been expected from side which has extra men on the field and been punished from Kesgin on last minute. Positive side for Alanyaspor is that it did lose game on minumum scoreline and if it shows much more effective game on 2nd leg it can turn around this tie.

Alanyaspor been pretty passive during game against Sivassspor and needs to improve its game for 2nd leg for sure.

Fenerbahce are favourites against tough Rizespor.

Fenerbahce would be resuming its fight for 2nd spot as it would be meeting with Konyaspor as we entering to last 5 weeks of the season.

Fenerbahce with Ismail Kartal is being side with great form right now and without doubt it would be hoping to continue to do so while Rizespor is currently focussed to stay on the league and did rise level of performance in recent weeks. Therefore, Rizespor is being side which could provide some pressure to Fenerbahce when looking to its recent performance and hence Fenerbahce would need to be careful. Still, it is expected for Fenerbahce to be one with control of the game and show effective attacking game for 90 minutes.

It would not be easy game for Fenerbahce but its recent performance does put them one step ahead in this tie.
