What happened in Turkish football today? 07/12/2018

Alanyaspor has been one who has lost 2 points against Besiktas. 

Turkish Super League openning game of 15th week between Alanyaspor and Besiktas has ended with goalless draw, where Alanyaspor has been one which was dominating game and couldnt overpass Besiktas goalkeeper Lorius Karius.

It needs to be stated that since joining Besiktas and also taking account that he has recieved some criticisms during past week performance, Lorius Karius has shown a great performance being a main reason for Besiktas to get one point from game especially from last minutes save. Even through Besiktas, compare to most of the Super League teams including Alanyaspor, didnt have Turkish Cup game at the midweek, it has looked to be more tired compare to their opponents, losing its touch and not being able to control game and making too many mistakes. In all fairness, their were moments when Besiktas has controlled game and provided some pressure towards Alanyaspor but in overall it is hard to state that their have deserved win. Clasically it could have stated that this performance reason at Besiktas side has been psychologically thinking about an important last Europa League game against Malmo, but this was also an important game for Besiktas and hence it has lost 2 points. Only positve aspect of the game as been stated above could be great performance of Lorius Karius who has brought point to side.

In other hand, Alanyaspor has been very close to get 1st win in its history against Besiktas who has been one which was created high amount of the chances and has been unlucky for Lorius Karius to be at great form. This performance without doubt would provide an important image at least for last 2 games until mid-season break.

Besiktas didnt provide great performance and didnt control game as would been expected from team and hence its need to improve for upcoming game against Malmo as this would not enough on 13th December.

Fenerbahce has won game without good performance.

Fenerbahce has provided pretty dissapointing performance during Turkish Cup 5th round 1st leg game against 1st league team Giresunspor despite of winning game with 1:0 scoreline thanks to the goal scored by Islam Slimani.

At the game which has been played without its supporters due of ban from last season semi-final game against Besiktas, it was expected that Fenerbahce would provide much better performance as their could provide more focus to the Turkish Cup as their are showing poor performance at the Super League. But with some changes at the squad with letting some players to experience first game during this season, it needs to be stated that team has shown pretty poor performance without any much plans and organisation. Meanwhile, it was visible with a game with Islam Slimani has seen this game as an opportunity to finally find a goal as he had created many chances but still couldnt find goal until 80th minute and time would show if that goal would let him for more to come in upcoming weeks. Fenerbahce head coach Erwin Koeman has stated himself that he is unhappy with how sides has performed on the day but it is his way to find solution. Meanwhile, Giresunspor did provide some good performance and has made task harder for Fenerbahce as game has been progressing.

Fenerbahce was expected to get new beginning at Turkish Cup but despite of winning its 1st leg, it provided poor performance and doesnt secure to quality to quarter-final stage.

Galatasaray to regain motivation as it would meet last-placed side at the league.

Galatasaray would be meeting with last-placed team Rizespor and would be aiming to get a win and regain motivation and confidence which it has lost during last few games including at derby game against Besiktas last week.

Galatasaray would be also aiming to regain those aspects prior to very important game at Champions League last week against Porto, as it would aim to secure its Europa League position and provide European football during first half of 2019. Galatasaray would be coming out as strong favourite due of position of the opponent, but its need to be remembered that only win which Rizespor has get from Fenerbahce game this season, and with Galatasaray not being at best form it needs to be careful and focussed to the game for sure. It would be also important for side to aim to show much more attacking game and find alternatives if it aims to end calendar year of 2018 at high note and look forward for 2019 and also getting strong transfers its aims in mid-season transfer window. This could be an important game for them without doubt.

Galatasaray would be coming as favourite as been stated but Rizespor would provide its chances as it would be aiming to solve its issues while meeting pretty problematic opponent.
