What happened in Turkish football today? 11/12/2018

Galatasaray has been unlucky against Porto but still qualified to Europa League.

Galatasaray has managed to qualify to Europa League as it has ended Champions League Group D at 3rd place despite of losing to Porto with 3:2 scoreline as it has played forward seeking game against opponent who has also focussed for a win during game.

Even through Galatasaray has got into Europa League knockout stages with its minumum requirements, it needs to be stated that Galatasaray has provided very good performance and has been providing high number of the chances but still it did concede goals due of some simple mistakes in defence. It needs to be stated that Galatasaray has provided a good performance with focussing into attacking level performance with creating high amount of the chances and has shown one of its best performances so far during this season. It was also important to see from Galatasaray perspective to always stay focussed even when scoreline was 2:0 and 3:1 and as Schalke 04 did find its winning goal on the last minute their was always risk for Lokomotiv Moscow to score goal which would mean for them to get 3rd  place at group. It needs to be stated with  penalty being scored during game, Galatasaray did also concede chance to score another penalty. It needs to be noted that even through Galatasaray did show great attacking game, it still wasted some of the changes and it does need a forward player both for title race at league and also at Europa League.

In other hand, Porto which did come out to the game securing leadership at the group stage did come out for a game to get a win and has provided very attacking game with both teams showing fighting spirit. Porto did deserve today's win as it provided similar fighting spirit as their opponents.

Galatasaray it important need to note that their also shown strong attacking football with fighting spirit, so the game has been between both sides which were aiming to win. With this performance it can be argued that Galatasaray has deserved to stay at Europe in 2019 spring.

Trabzonspor players Burak Yilmaz and Onur Kivrak has send warning to their club to recieve their salaries within 30 days.

Trabzonspor player Burak Yilmaz and Onur Kivrak, who are currently are not at squad and very likely to be sold during mid-season transfer window, have send towards club via TFF requesting to recieve their salaries within 30-days period or otherwise contract would be terminated.

This move by both Burak Yilmaz and Onur Kivrak would be seen as shock for Trabzonspor as the club is currently at the financial crises as almost all of the clubs in Turkey but in same time it needs to be noted that club CEO Ahmet Agaoglu did state that team is expect such moves from those players. Relationships between club and those players, especially with Burak Yilmaz, as it is known is not going at good manner and this move would raise tension between sides. With some players did provide some unity for success of the club, this actions would not be acceptable from players who call themselves real Trabzonspor players, even if their are not at the squad. This move also without doubt prevents Trabzonspor to make some cash from both players if payments will not be made within 30 days.

This move to some view could be done from players knowing their will not be getting paid and hence become free agents and be able to make transfer deals in much better and calmer conditions for them.

Basaksehirspor opens point difference at leadership race despite of not having much fans.

Basaksehirspor with winning against Ankaragucu thanks to 8th minute goal by Edin Visca and also with their main opponents behind them, with only exception being Trabzonspor, losing points has helped them to be 7 points behind 2nd placed Kasimpasa.

Basaksehirspor carries on getting an important point and with all favourites having dissapointing seasons let them slowly to gain point difference against them even through their themselves did lose 12 points in this campaign. It could be argued that to some extend Basaksehirspor interestingly is not showing same level performance which their did in previous seasons, but it does show very organised way of performance especially at the back which does prevent their opponent to find many chances. Still, it needs to be noted that with even point difference its still could be difficult season for them to get league title due of having lack of fans which means that when things will not go as planned during games, and it would during title race, their would not be much external pushing force to the team which could affect especially towards end of the season.

Still, even with this it still being as main candidate for title for now speaking and would be aiming to finally get title after reasonable good performance in recent seasons.
