Besiktas has been eliminated from Europa League during game against Malmo with losing with 1:0 scoreline.
Besiktas has been eliminated from Europa League as it has lost its last game at group stage against
Malmo as it has lost with 1:0 scoreline at the game where even draw would be enough for a side to get to the next round.
It needs to be stated that Besiktas has started at fast tempo the game and during game has been focussed at creating high amount of the chances but it did also allow Malmo to create their own chances as the side has been focussed to show an attacking game. Without doubt one of the main aspects which has also played an important role for loss to such game has been red card of Ricardo Quaresma which he has recieved at 65th minute, even through it was losing game at that moment and this has made some dramatic game even more at home ground. It also needs to be reminded that number of the key players wasnt able to play at game today due of high number of injuries which has also affected to the quality of the sides. It needs to be stated that as been mentioned above has created high amount of the chances and has been very unlucky towards end of the game as it has hit to the post twice in the last minute. Still, with Besiktas starting competition aiming to play final game in Baku, being relegated from group stage would have been dissapointing to the team and supporters for sure.
Meanwhile, Malmo has done everything right as it needed to win game to the knockout stages and did provide its best performance in their level and hence has found much needed goal scored on 51st minute by Andersson.
Besiktas has been eliminated from Europa League at group stage with 5 points and didnt get an important point at such crucial game without doubt and would now need why it didnt fulfill after memorable performance at Champions League last season.
Fenerbahce has ended group stage with loss against Spartak Trnava.
As both Fenerbahce and Spartak Trnava were coming out for formality game during Europa League Group D 6th week game, as Fenerbahce has ended group as runners-up even before the kick-off, the game has been played at slow tempo.
It needs to be noted that even through it was pretty relaxing game for Fenerbahce due of circumstances and also coming out to the game with pretty younger players to provide their experience, their couldnt get into game too much and has played game in pretty slow tempo. Despite of short period during the game, when Fenerbahce has shown some number of dangerous chances during 2nd half, Fenerbahce has been showing poor performance and not being able to create high number of the chances allowing Spartak Trnava to create higher amount of the chances, as Slovakian team even through didnt also play at its highest tempo did create some of the chances. This could be last game of current coach Erwin Koeman at the top position and it would been expected that he would show more pleasant performance but he seemed to be lacking this creative aspect during game.
Spartak Trnava despite being arleady relegated from Europa League when entered to the game, still has come to game into positive manner aiming to win game and to show forward seeking performance with also reasonably low tempo of the game and their had experienced ending group stage with point.
Fenerbahce would now be awaiting, among Galatasaray, for Europa League opponents during 2nd round of competition at the draw on 17th December and it needs to be stated that their are many teams which are in level of Champions League.
Akhisarspor ends Europa League with getting its 1 point in its history.
Even through Akhisarspor has ended group stage at the last place and finding itself 8 point behind 3rd placed team, which is Standard Liege, it has got an historical 1 point against opponents as it has found its 1st point at the tournament in its history.
As our regular visitors would be aware, out page has been praising overall performance of the Akhisarspor at Europa League as it managed to show quite positive and attacking football but due of level of its opponents and also inexperience and difficult season it didnt get points. However, coming to the game at home ground against opponent which does need point, it was important to get this draw with showing pretty controlling football and preventing Standard Liege to create dangerous chances. Akhisarspor with taking account of its level as a team, should be proud with this point and ending Europa League with style. This experience would certainly provide strong experience which it would be able to show at domestic league and could now focus to raise at the standings and get out from difficult position.
With this taking account that Standard Liege needed to win today to have chance for knockout stage, it was also pleasant to see Akhisarspor to prevent that. Standard Liege after this result has also been relegated from Europa League among Akhisarspor.
