After dissapointing campaign at the Champions League this season, Galatasaray was playing very important game against Astana for getting ticket for the round of 32 at the Europa League and carry its European journey after winter break. Galatasaray needed not to lose a game and it was capable to do that compare to the strength of its opponent, but as with most of Turkish clubs and national team it decided to do it in hard way.
Saying that it should be remembered that club is not in great condition currently and this point should be taken into account when analysing today's game. However, the side which was at pressure normally should been Astana but it was quite opposite. After watching game, apart of skills of individual players and level of clubs not taken account, it is hard to say that Astana did not deserve win. I would argue that Astana players were playing its best and given all of it with its maximum capability. Same could not be said for Galatasaray.
Galatasaray at some point, especially at 1st half, has played in fact like the scoreline was going well for them and possibly not giving enough pressure towards opponents players. In comparison, just look at Real Madrid who have qualified to next stage of tournament and won Malmo with 8:0 scoreline tonight. Despite of showing strenght of two clubs it kinda does show Real took opponents seriously. Of course, it is questionable how Besiktas will perform against Sporting on Thursday (forecast on tomorrow blog) but right now Besiktas is slightly favourite in sense of motivation and performance wise at game against Besiktas on next Monday.
Short word of Astana, rather than calling them weakest team, club should be praised for its performance at this Champions League campaign. It has played its best in all 6 games of tournament and gained great experience from such major tournament.
Trabzonspor election results has provided motivation to players.
The victory of Trabzonspor against Eskisehirspor was expected to take place, but it needs to be admitted that this victory was done in an easier manner than expected. Among actually winning game with 3:1 victory it was observed that club players has played in more motivational mood and focussing into game. Assuming that game was played in empty field due of ban, it was enjoyable game to watch.
Undoubtedly with new CEO being selected on Sunday, where Muharrem Usta became new club CEO, has affected positively towards players including news that their would be paid wages tomorrow. As it is know club players dont care much about administration factors and only wanted calm and make their stay at club with wages recieving on time. Not achieving that affect performance of players and if whole team is not paid than to a team.
Of course, its hard once again state if this result would bring more victories until winter break as it has played against weakest team in the league so far, but calmness and motivational effect of election results and victory yesterday will only help team in rest of 3 games until the break.
Antalyaspor wants to be strong but is not managed in way it should.
Sacking of the coaches at the Turkish League in this season, as in previous seasons, has become habit with high number of teams having different names leading them compare to start of the season. The latest name to be sacked was Antalyaspor head coach Yusuf Simsek.
With buying players such as Samuel Eto'o and wanting to buy others, Antalyaspor needed great performance and be at the top 5 places at the Super League. However, to achieve that it needs top manager and Yusuf Simsek even through is good but he is capability, to all respect, is to be in top half of the table but not in fighting for title.
Another down side that Antalyaspor has also become club which start looking for results by adminstrators of club. Gultekin Gencer believes that he can make top team by getting top players without focussing actually making team to be union. Meanwhile, Samuel Eto'o is providing one of the best performances so far in league but team as 10th position. As once again, it remind unwritten rule of the game: Players win games, teams win titles.
