What happened in Turkish football today? 11.12
Fenerbahce is much stronger compare from start of the season and will become better until February.
Fenerbahce as team is having very interesting season both at the Europa League and Super League with huge change of game play it has, comparing from beginning of the season and in the state it is at the mid-season. What was seen as problematic game play in August which could bring trouble at the league and especially in Europe has turned out to be now at the position where club can move with high confidence at both tournaments.
Even through Celtic didnt try its best at the game, until red card by Diego, Fenerbahce itself was playing most organised football where each move had some purpose and control of pace was seen at the team. Only downside was totally needless and unclear red card recieved by Diego, hitting Celtic player right next to the referee. The reasoning of Diego is unclear and surely will raise questions about his future at the club as early as this winter transfer window.
Fenerbahce now has two months to get prepared for 1st leg of round of 32 against team which it will found out on 14th December after the draw. Since Galatasaray is also Istanbul club, Fenerbahce will play its game on Tuesday rather than Thursday. Until that moment Fenerbahce has enough time to get ready for that game and become much stronger as it tends to do right now at each games.
Besiktas needs to find goalkeeper solutions until Monday.
On the other hand and total opposite of Fenerbahce is Besiktas which is seems to be seen in last seasons where club is getting weaker compare to start of the season. Until 1st goal of Sporting Lisbon at yesterday Europa League game, Besiktas has in control of game and seemed just in around 35 minutes it will get its round of 32 tickets.
However, the big mistake by Tolga Zengin of untimed going ahead has cost them elimination of
Europa League. Tolga Zengin was making this mistake numorous times in his career and it was done at very important games. Besiktas would very likely start be looking at the goalkeeper, with first option being Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina, because the solution with Zengin himself does not seem to be easily solved.
However, whole team after 1st Sporting goal has lost motivation, lost control of the game and start making mistakes at the field, team players seemed not to be prepared for this change of storyline at the game. Now Senol Gunes needs to find solutions to this and very soon as it will play against Galatasaray on Monday back at the league.
New beginning at Trabzonspor raises motivation of players.
Trabzonspor, in the sense of motivation and not performance, is at best condition since September with appointment of new CEO, with head coach Sadi Tekelioglu signing contract until end of the season and players being paid much awaited wages. This is all positives surely will affect to team performance on the game tomorrow against Rizespor.
Trabzonspor as a team has great squad with a lack of motivation with all this being over suddenly club becomes strong favourite against Rizespor. There is no single reason why players who were unhappy to stay in same condition rigth now. This new beginning at the club would very likely also reflect into performance of a team at the field.
Regarding of Rizespor, as once again with mediocre teams, it needs to believe itself and even through Trabzonspor is high on motivation its unclear about club situation in physical sense, so Rizespor has real chance to get at least one point tomorrow if its stay focus during 90 minutes of game.
