What happened in Turkish football today? 01.12

Players start using Pereira game style effectively.

Fenerbahce has regained its leadership position after it has lost it to Besiktas back at the 6th week of this season Super League. It needs to be stated that regaining the top spot was not easy for Fenerbahce and needed some patience. Quite naturally, the drop of performance of Besiktas in last weeks played an important role to get there.

Fenerbahce tactics, including during win against Trabzonspor yesterday, made it visible and easy to analyse however the system works so far. The main reason why it works and will work because to some extend club head coach Vitor Pereira is practicing Total Football style of game. Pereira from start wanted each player to be involved at the game with smart defence and effective attacks. Following game play needed change of style and high stamina, and this system being new to some players at squad it was naturally for bad beginning at the start of league.

In fact, at stamina, Fenerbahce does have some issues still to solve as it still provides poor performance at last 30 minutes of game and more focus goes to defence. However, Fenerbahce players start to understand what kind of game Pereira expects from them and it does look like for now Fenerbahce can only improve. There is no reason why Fenerbahce will not end as leader prior to mid-season break.

Biggest opponent of players at Trabzonspor is psychology on themselves.

Trabzonspor players mind and performance is still dominated by issues which are outside of football such as uncertainty with wages, match-fixing issue and general issues within the club. The anger towards Lazar Markovic by Salih Dursun, apart of being pushed, has been happened due of this.

As head coach, Sadi Tekilioglu, can do his best to make players to play better football and bring out its maximum performance from team players, but when it comes to psychologically issue it become much harder to solve. It does look that CEO elections at the club on 5-6th December might bring some calm at club, but until then Trabzonspor will have pressure towards players.

Saying that, if election results will bring calmness to club then Sadi Tekilioglu task will become easier as he will be able to concentrate  and focus into performances of team at which players will probably provide right reaction. Because as the team, Trabzonspor deserved to be higher at table.

Mustafa Denizli strictness might bring improvement of game to Galatasaray.

Loss to Kasimpasa, as been stated in yesterday blog, could be foolish to blame into new appointed head coach Mustafa Denizli but it did provide him to understand issues which are present at internal and external level at the club and undoubtedly it will help him to solve some issues or at least let players know prior to game against Bursaspor on Friday how he plans to find solutions to  them.

It was reported today that Mustafa Denizli has told to every coach and player that after game their will all return to club facilities at team bus. Previously, players could return with their own cars after game to home, which led many to use this opportunity. Denizli decision, rightly, was to make team come together. Mustafa Denizli from day one has shown to players that he will be strict to them because thats how you keep focus and togetherness at the team.

Next game against Bursaspor might not end as the win for the team but it should have some improvement at game play. If there wont be improvement than it will have bad ending of 1st half of season and might even have trouble against Astana at Champions League.
