What happened in Turkish football today? 21.12

An important win for Besiktas at difficult conditions.

Besiktas has won very important game at the race for leadership at the Super League with very tough opponent at very tough conditions in the stadium with 3:2 scoreline with losing twice during the game. In fact, during the game Besiktas had similar problems as Fenerbahce did yesterday as both games were played in Ankara.

The poor conditions of the field which turned into ice and had broken areas as weather temperature during game has shown to -1 - -4 degrees it was naturally for field to become frozen but the poor conditions of the field cant be seen as excuse as under field heater could easily solve this issues. Coming to the game, with equalising and later scoring winning goal Besiktas player Jose Sosa has become hero of the game. With the two quality goals scoring at good sectionof the goal has shown importance of players like Sosa at any team in the world.

In fact performance of Besiktas can be divided into two halves as there was hardly any attacking gameplay usual obseved by the team at first half and with much better Besiktas at 2nd half creating dangerous attacks and converting them. Besiktas complaints regarding of the field makes sense as it was very difficult for players to stay on their feet and the way this game has finished without any injuries could be considered as luck for both teams.

Coming to Osmanlispor, it needs to solve the problem of home game as Mustafa Resit Akcay has stated that their play good games at home but still lose points. Osmanlispor as team is providing very watchable football but seems to have problems at end of the game. If their solve this issues their can fight for higher positions at the league.

Luis Nani needs to understand that opponents can ruthlessly hit legs to stop him.

Fenerbahce has got very important victory at the game against Genclerbirligi yesterday night for the fight of the leadership with Besiktas including taking account with conditions which been mentioned yesterday at the blog. Genclerbirligi has decided to use rough football to stop its stronger opponents especially focus towards Luis Nani.

Following the game, Luis Nani has complained that the opponents tried everything to break his feet. However, what happened at the game with defensive play by Genclerbirligi its nothing new in Turkey. Even through technically and possible football wise can be argued that Nani have good points, Turkish league has been known for its rough style of game with players not feeling sorry for hitting into legs  to stop opponent players. Luis Nani needs to realise this and now that you need especially fight for a ball if you want to getting into attacks and score goals.

Another aspect of Fenerbahce is that head coach Vitor Pereira still playing kind of football focusing into defence which leads to only scoring one goal without conceding any goals. Even through this system looks to be effective as club fights for leadership at the table in successful manner so much it is very risky system as one big mistake or unlucky day at attacking might lead to lose point/s. So far this defensive and minumum win system works but it could bring problems at upcoming weeks.

Galatasaray raised mood prior to last game until winter break.

Galatasaray was among the teams which was criticised heavily for most part of this season however back-to-back wins against Akhisar Belediyespor in one week, surprising package of the season so far, has shown there are some improvements at the club even through things are not in perfect condition yet for them.

As the team, players start showing more organised game-play especially in start of both games with getting into positions and converting them to the point that their start winning with 2:0 scoreline. However, what was noticed from two games is that it needs to improve its stamina and show that it can play in same level for 90 minutes. Towards end of the game Galatasaray showing sign of tiredness and hence providing dangerous positions to its opponents. The game where Galatasaray was winning 2:0 has ended with 3:2 win for them and with 15 minutes Galatasaray almost lost its lead.

Now Galatasaray needs to win its last game against Kayserispor prior to winter break, so it would be going into new year with higher motivation and belief to themselves that it can catch Besiktas and Fenerbahce, also with good transfers it could become stronger team, if bought players are good.
