What happened in Turkish football today? 09/11/2023

Besiktas has been relegated from Conference League with 2 weeks to go as it lost to Bodo/Glimt

Besiktas has been relegated with 2 weeks to go from Conference League  it lost to Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt at home ground and did have trouble with getting into right control of the game.

With taking how Besiktas is performing since start of the season and also taking account that team is going through some difficult period both on field and administratively, Istanbul giant did come as underdog and this has affected to how team has performed since start of the moment. Bodo/Glimt it needs to be stated did take whole control of the game and has created some chances as their have provided image that their wanted this win much more than Besiktas. It needs to be stated that interestingly Besiktas has rose tempo and start showing some signs of fighting spirit after 2:0 as it only had bit more than 30 minutes which hence has been too late for the team. It needs to be stated that team did eventually find goal on with Tayfur Bingol at 60th minute as Besiktas did raise tempo and did do everything to find an equaliser but Bodo/Glimt did provide strong defensive game and hence led for Besiktas to only  have 1 point after 4th week.

Bodo/Glimt did come with motivation and confidence that good result from this game would be important step for them to get into knockout stages and therefore it has been provided much more positive game from start. With finding 2 goals from Moumbagna it has raised its chances for knockout stage pretty high.

Besiktas continues to show dissapointing performance this time losing to Bodo/Glimt and this result has put possibly victim of all situation Burak Yilmaz future into question.

Fenerbahce didnt provide game which been expected from them at all against Ludogorets

It has been very curious how Fenerbahce would respond following dramatic loss against Trabzonspor at the Super League and as it once again did come without its key defenders due of injuries, and it has been visible that it didnt respond well at all.

It needs to be stated that Fenerbahce has been mentally affected from loss to Trabzonspor as it was expected that defensively team might be having some issues but this problems did look to be even clear at attacking level as compare to previosu game it did look to be pretty passive and didnt create much chances. It has been noted several times at our blog entries that Turkish clubs does tend to be emotional affected and this does affected into upcoming games and this has been case against Ludogorets game as to some extend game has been developing as Bulgarian side. After conceding great class from Pietrowiski, Fenerbahce didnt provide any reaction to that moment and hence has led Ludogorets to get win which it seeked for. It needs to be mentioned that Ryan Kent who has been among key attackers didnt provide level of performance which been accepted while Dusan Tadic did look pretty passive compare to previous games.

Ludogorets has been seen as 2nd favourite in the group and in their side they needed to show performance according to that and even through it is hard to state that they showed much dominance, they did perform how it would be expected from them when it plays against team which is in better quality.

Fenerbahce hence continues its ineffective performance and does provide as been mentioned some worrying views prior to key game against Adana Demirspor this weekend.

Galatasaray was in same level as Bayern Munich for 80 minutes

Galatasaray has managed to provide once again strong and confident performance against Bayern Munich and did once again show that it is capable to compete in similar level as them at the Champions League. Only issue is that it can do so for 70-80 minutes.

Even through there is positive argument that Galatasaray during game in Allianz Arena has managed to provide head-to-head performance for 80 minutes, which is being 10 minutes long than during 1st leg, it still could be stated that this game has been played in similar scenario. In similar manner as on 1st leg, Galatasaray did provide confident and strong attacking game which without doubt would be put as positive aspect of the game but it didnt convert chances and when playing at team like Bayern Munich it would be very hard to win game and this what has happened. Meanwhile, with Copenhagen beating Manchester United on previous day it did turn around fight at the group between those both sides as been expected but only that both clubs very likely would fight for knockout stage rather than getting 3rd spot for Europa League.

Galatasaray hence did provide good performance which would make everyone proud and provide positive but one thing is clear that team stamina is only issue for them to be head-to-head with one of leading sides in world
