What happened in Turkish football today? 24/08/2022

Trabzonspor got drawless draw against Copenhagen which led for no Turkish club at Champions League since 1995/96 season

Trabzonspor has failed to turn around Champions League play-off round tie against Copenhagen from 2:1 scoreline as it has ended 2nd leg with goa0lless draw and hence meaning that no Turkish club will be competing at Champions League proper since 1995-96 season.

Trabzonspor did start game at positive manner with providing strong attacking game and providing needed pressure to Copenhagen with help of the supporters but when you dont score goal, it didnt help to get upper hand of the tie. With Trabzonspor not finding crucial early goal when it needed it has provided without doubt confidence to Copenhagen which also been used to the atmosphere on the field after some time and has created some opportunities towards end of the 1st half and also during 2nd half. Trabzonspor did have great start of the game as been mentioned but it has failed to continue to do so for 90 minutes and looked especially passive during 2nd half. Trabzonspor meanwhile did have an important advantage and got back its supporters but players didnt use this advantage at all and this led for side to continue at Europa League.

Copenhagen didnt have a good start of the game with being slighly surprised but with Trabzonspor didnt finding needed goal, side has shown some turning around of the game and has got result which it seeked for and when looking at 2 legs, it did deserve to group stage.

Trabzonspor needed to provide much more pressure towards Copenhagen but it didnt manage to do that and hence it can only blame itself not to get to the next round.

Fenerbahce expects to carry on showing attacking game against Austria Wien.

Fenerbahce will be coming to 2nd leg of Europa League play-off round game against Austria Wien with impressive advantage of 2:0 scoreline as it would be seeking to get calm but in same effective game at home ground.

During recent weeks, Fenerbahce has provided much more attacking game and getting closer to game which Jorge Jesus is being seeking for and it would be expected for Fenerbahce to carry on such performance especially at home. It is not expected for side to play for scoreline as it did against Slovacko on previous round, as it would be playing at home and supporters would be demanding to see much more attacking game. Austria Wien meanwhile will have difficult task and would only get into some hopes if it does find an early goal which could be difficult task for them but still have opportunity as Fenerbahce does concede goals.

Fenerbahce hence might reduce tempo of game compare to previous games but still would be seeking to get good win against Austria Wien.

Sivasspor would need to find an early goal to have chance to turn around tie.

Sivasspor would be coming out at tough task of turning around its 3:1 loss from 1st leg at Europa League play-off round as it would be especially important to found an early goal.

With task of turning around against experienced side Malmo being difficult task by itself, it would make even more difficult for Sivasspor the fact that its form in start of the season is being very poor. Key of the game as been noted would be to find an early goal but it doesnt have that confidence of team as it would be also be felt under pressure. Most important thing for Sivasspor is to forget all other games and provide specific concentration and motivation and this would help mentally to turn around game and then it would need to perform much more stronger. It does look hence pretty difficult to turn around game.

Malmo would come out with better mood and expected to provide strong concentration to the defence especially in start of the game.
