What happened in Turkish football today? 31/07/2022

Trabzonspor got confident win against Sivasspor at Turkish Super Cup.

Trabzonspor has started 2022-23 football season with winning Super Cup with confident scoreline of 4:0 against Turkish Cup winners Sivasspor as it has dominated game following 30 minutes of slow start.

With looking at the quality of squad it was expected for Trabzonspor to be coming out as favourites but there has been expectation much more resistance from Sivasspor but its opponent has been looked pretty passive and also lost motivation and confidence after conceding 2nd goal. Therefore, even through Trabzonspor did show good performance and got title in deserved manner, it should be noted that this performance could be wrong game for reference especially for Champions League and should not be tricking whole side. Despite of that, Trabzonspor still showed strong winning character during 90 minutes with Cornelius providing to be main attacker in the team right now.

Trabzonspor hence did have great start of the season but it needs to be aware that there are areas which need to be improved on.

Sivasspor looked to be lacking concentration against Trabzonspor.

Sivasspor on their part looked to be in much worser physical and tactical condition and couldnt provide both much resistance and also pressure to Trabzonspor.

Even through it could be seen by some that Sivasspor didnt have bad start for the game, this been mainly due of fact that both sides has shown some passive without much creation. In other words, even through first 30 minutes were best period for Sivasspor during game there were not any moments which could be noted that sideprovided some pressure to Trabzonspor and got control of the game. This game has shown that side in best scenario didnt take this game seriously mentally or at worse are not ready for this upcoming Super League season. Sivasspor did look to be having an issue with concentration and hence would need to provide much more aggressive game.

Sivasspor would hence need to take some lessons from this game and provide better performance in upcoming weeks.

Torino aims to use release clause of Emirhan Ilhan.

As soon as one of the Besiktas players from academy has left club, namely Ridvan Yilmaz, 2nd player Emirhan Ilhan is rumoured to be leaving to Torino in very short period of time.

Emirhan Ilhan when signing extension earlier this summer, has put an release clause on his contract which is being 4.5 million euro from Europeacn club as such move has been made to open his door to Europe. With Torino finding out such clause, it has spend offer towards Besiktas. Even through Emirhan Ilhan states that he is leaving final decision to administration of the team, it is known that he would like to join club as would been expected. With Besiktas being reluctant to sell player and lose another potential star it would be interesting to see how this story would develop.

It needs to be rememered that with Torino paying 4.5 million euro Besiktas would not have option and hence its being question if Torino would do such move with reports that it plans to do so.
