What happened in Turkish football today? 24/11/2021

Besiktas continues its poor performance this time against Ajax

Besiktas continues its losing streak at Champions League after losing to Ajax at home ground with 2:1 scoreline as it continues to provide poor defensive game and hence ended any chance to continue its European journey at any competition.

Poor performance of Besiktas both at Champions League and domestic league continues to be case during Ajax and even through Besiktas did lead game since 22nd minute until 54th minute, thanks to penalty goal from Racchid Ghezzal penalty goal it still could be noted that Besiktas didnt provide too much pressure to Ajax even through there was golden opportunity from Cyle Larin to score 2nd goal towards end of the 1st half which could bring them to get important advantage prior to 2nd half. Still, this result could provide some worry to its head coach Sergen Yalcin who is not getting good results in recent weeks even through supporters still provide trust to him until now.

Ajax didnt dominate game which been expected by some especially during 1st half but this could be also partly due of relaxation from knowing that even ending with draw would help them get to knockout stages and this calmness let them get 2 goals in 2nd half.

Besiktas does enter with 0 points to last week of the group stage and would hope to get at least 1 point against Borussia Dortmund but it could be difficult task.

Fenerbahce is being extra motivated to Olympiakos game.

Fenerbahce would be focussing to carry on its momentum which it got from beating Galatasaray as it would be meeting with Olympiakos at Europa League with being 1 point behind them.

This game is being very crucial for both sides as win for Olympiakos would make sure it would get knockout stage while Fenerbahce in case of winning would get into 2nd spot and get opportunity to get into knockout stages. In addition, following previous game between both sides Olympiakos CEO statement regarding of getting win against Fenerbahce at our city Constantinople would provide extra motivation to the players without doubt and especially Turkish players would provide strong attacking game. Meanwhile, if Fenerbahce would provide similar game both tactically and on field against Olympiakos it could be getting this crucial win for sure.

Fenerbahce possibly did get turning point following win at derby and this game would be first one to see if its been case.

Galatasaray would aim to get ticket to knockout stage against Olympique Marseille.

Galatasaray would be coming to very important game against Olympique Marseille as draw would quarantee them knockout stage of Europa League and while win might possibly get them top spot.

As been several times in our blog, Galatasaray does provide performance and motivation in the Europa League compare to domestic league and it is very likely to continue to do so as it would be meeting with Olympique Marseille in the game where in case of draw it would quarantee them knockout stages and side would be coming out in such motivation and confidence. This game would also help side to get over loss against Fenerbahce in more psychological game but it would be tough game as Olympique Marseille would do its best to keep its chances for knockout stages arrive.

Galatasaray would get tough game against Olympique Marseille and would hence provide strong fighting spirit against them.
