What happened in Turkish football today? 21/07/2021

Galatasaray provided very poor performance against PSV Eindhoven.

PSV Eindhoven has got confident win against Galatasaray with 5:1 goals during Champions League 2nd qualifying round 1st leg game thanks to goals from Zahavi and Mario Gotze with Galatasaray providing very poor performance without much tempo and poor teamwork.

Prior to game, there is been strong belief that chances for both sides to get into next round would been 50/50, but when looking how sides performed during 1st leg it needs to be mentioned that even through its hard to state which side is better, but PSV has looked more fresh and focussed into game. Without this doubt has become even more clear from first two conceded goals which did come from pretty simple goals from Fernando Muslera and Emre Kilinc mistakes which led for PSV to get 35 minutes 2:0 leadership which provided needed motivation and confidence. Still, Galatasaray goal from Emre Kilinc in end of 2nd half did provide some hope for them but it continued to show very poor game from Galatasaray as it led for opponents to get into game once again and get high focus and motivation. Galatasaray without doubt did put its 2nd leg into high difficulty as it would need to find 4 goals without conceding to get even extra-time in Istanbul.

PSV Eindhoven did look to be much confident and ready for this game with dominating game while both Zahavi and Gotze finding 5 goals between them and generally providing strong pressure to Galatasaray goal and got deserved win.

Galatasaray did provide very poor performance without doubt and even through chances to get win in this tie is being low, this game would be reality check to them for rest of the season.

Sivasspor are being strong favourites against Petrocub.

Sivasspor would become 1st Turkish side to be coming out to UEFA newly-competitions Conference League as it would be playing against Moldavian side Petrocub at 2nd qualifying round 1st leg game.

Looking into level of squads between both sides, Sivasspor would be coming as strong favourites in this game as apart of having pretty limited squad compare to Turkish side, Petrocub also doesnt have experience at European competitions and did have trouble getting to this stage against opponent which is being similar level to them. Sivasspor as most Turkish clubs didnt get much opportunity to prepare for this game with having some limited pre-season friendlies but again this could only provide issue in sense of physical. Still, Sivasspor needs to provide full focus for this game without getting opponent to lightly for getting unwanted result.

It would be expected for Sivasspor to show strong confident game getting great result at home during 1st leg.

Trabzonspor signs Ismail Koybasi for 2+1 years

Trabzonspor has signed one of the most experienced T urkish players Ismail Koybasi for 2-years with 5 million TL as it is player who could provide needed strength for side to be fighting for title in upcoming season.

During previous season, Trabzonspor did promise to make for team for next season to be able to be fighting for title and when looking at transfer front it should be stated it does that. It could be noted that Ismail Koybasi to some extend is being in decline with level of performance but he does have strong experience when playing at big clubs in country and hence is being familiar at being title race. He might not provide performance from his best days but some of his skills and talks with other players could provide needed strength side.

Trabzonspor without doubt are making good squad and this would needed strenght for side to be fighting for title in upcoming season.
