What happened in Turkish football today? 07/11/2020

Konyaspor did good homework prior to Fenerbahce.

Fenerbahce has lost its 1st game during this season as it was expected to get one of the most comfortable wins during this season as Istanbul giant historically tend to get victories against Konyaspor and also generally opponent showing poor performance.

One of the factors which did affect to this outcome is issue which from start of the season, Fenerbahce tend to find goals from set-pieces rather then from ongoing games, as Konyaspor seemed to be so far been side to make strongest preparation for this factor as Fenerbahce mainly from corner kicks to convert opportunities. This factor has been visible from start of the season and been discussed actively by Turkish pundits but our blog didnt discuss much as side did get outcome. One of the issues for Fenerbahce without doubt has been lack of showing creative game as been noted with providing style of attacks in similar one which always kept Konyaspor to be able to guess successfully and prevent Fenerbahce to use its opportunities, which does show Konyaspor head coach Ismail Kartal did provide very good preparation towards game. Only positive aspect from this Fenerbahce could be to recognize its issues so far as keep on winning could provide false view that things are going well for them. Therefore, Fenerbahce would need to get lessons from this game and found of this issues in the national team break.

Konyaspor on other hand as been mentioned above did provide good preparation for Fenerbahce tactically and managed to convert that on the field almost without fault. Konyaspor has won its 2nd game, with 1st being against Besiktas and this result could provide confidence for upcoming games.

Fenerbahce hence got its first lose of the season due of mainly having issues providing strong creative opportunities and it does look like it gets opportunity to solve issue of not finding much goals apart of set pieces during break.

Both Alanyaspor and Trabzonspor showed high tempo game.

Turkish Super League 8th week game between Trabzonspor and Alanyaspor has been ended with 1:1 scoreline as both sides did provide high level attacking game making it clear that they did come out for aim to get win with taking importance of this game for both sides.

It needs to be noted that following ending contract with Eddie Newton and coming out for 1st game since its been observed that Trabzonspor did look to be more actively focussing into attack even through it did continue issue with converting them but the willingness should be seen as plus. Without doubt, for Alanyaspor also seeking for attacking style game did also affect to them as their shown right response. Without doubt, key player for whole game has been Caulker who did score both to get leadership for Alanyaspor but also fighting own goal at position where he did hit by accident in all fairness. There are still areas without doubt which Trabzonspor needs to be improving on during this national team break as it is also expected to announce Abdullah Avci as club's head coach in upcoming days, which could help for side to focus into collective and defensive game which he tends to show with his previous sides.

Alanyaspor on their part does continue its defeatless season, being only side to do so far, but would be felt dissapointed as it shown strong attitude to win game until last minute and continue highly level tempo and positive football once again.

Trabzonspor on they part would be dissapointed as it is being currently 12 points behind leaders of the league and would need to find way in break to get wins and find itself again in race for top spot.

Besiktas struggles to get full control of game.

Besiktas has provided very poor performance during Super League 8th week game against Gaziantep without able to get into tempo which was needed and made very simple mistakes at defence.

In all respect to Istanbul giants, it needs to be noted that games where Besiktas has won so far has been against opponents which didnt provide very good game and didnt provide much resistance, while sides which did come out for point/s did get one which does show issues which Besiktas does have especially when coming to defence. It could be comfortably mentioned that Gaziantep despite of only getting few opportunities which it did convert has been actually side which did control game and tempo, while Besiktas couldnt find its own level of performance which it doesnt find so far this season. There were games which Besiktas did provide better game than opponent but its hard to state it had game where it got full control and domination without doubt. Therefore, Besiktas needs to find in this issue and also improve on defence if it wants to stay close at leadership raise as it currently 7 points behind leaders with game in hand.

Besiktas is providing poor performances so far in this season and certainly needs to improve during this national team break especially at defence to keep its title aims arrive.
