What happened in Turkish football today? 27/11/2020

Trabzonspor wins 2nd week without conceding.

Trabzonspor head coach Abdullah Avci continues with winning game with same scoreline 1:0 with this time beating last place Ankaragucu thanks to the great goal from Baker from freekick, still gaining important confidence which it is lacking.

Without undermining success of Abdullah Avci which includes improving defence game of the side as it didnt concede goal, it needs to be admitted that side did play against opponents which were not in good form with having issues in the attack where at least draw would be achieved. Therefore, this two wins is not really into showing good performance but very important points which are not gained with performance but need to win since team is getting used to new system. It needs to be noted Trabzonspor are achieving this task in pretty good way with getting results from modest clubs since does give Avci time to work into improvement of team with showing strong confident performance on upcoming weeks without having too much loss. Even through its been noted that side is not in level which would be expected from them, it did show without doubt huge improvement as it tend to concede in every game prior to Avci joining side which shouldnt be seen as big surprise since Avci does give big attention to defence and with Trabzonspor having this issue he did put this into his priority.

Ankaragucu continues to have very dissapointing season with being only side which didnt win so far in the league and doesnt provide sadly high hopes for rest of season as it needs to give reaction as soon as it can with 4 clubs being eliminated this season.

Trabzonspor does continue winning period with lots of place to improvement but does improve defence for sure and gain confidence for upcoming games.

Sivasspor win against Qarabag keep they chances for knockout stage arrive.

Sivasspor has got very important win against Qarabag during Europa League Group I despite of all difficulties and Maccabi Tel Aviv losing 2 points against Villarreal, with Turkish side provide strong character due of having lack of players getting from behind twice and at the end winning with 3:2 scoreline.

Some pundits could see draw of Villarreal as not good result but it needs to be noted that this perspective is quite wrong since both above sides did lose 2 points with Maccabi being direct opponent with win against them after next week could be enough for getting to next stage. As high number of clubs, Sivasspor been also affected with resent rise of Covid19 cases in general and did have issues with having ideal squad so having not very good performance during whole game could be seen as expected but this attitude realising that it would need to win and higher motivation compare to opponents did affect directly to the game without any doubt. Key without doubt to show good reaction to each conceded goal and maybe raised their performance when it conceded so maybe it even had some positive impact to them.

Hence, Sivasspor did get crucial win and now would be focussing into getting surprising result, even draw against Villarreal, as extra point could be crucial for getting knockout spot.

It wont be easy game for Galatasaray against Rizespor for sure.

Problematic Galatasaray due of high number of injuries and Covid19 cases which mainly been affected its key players would be meeting with Rizespor, hoping to provide much better performance compare to Kayserispor.

Rizespor CEO Hasan Kartal, still showing to opponent respect, did state that club are in better condition right now due of issues mentioned above and he is being correct as side much closer to come out with better condition. This could be seen good opportunity for them as their do provide agressive and brave football for sure. Meanwhile, Galatasaray did provide some positive attacking game in last week but did have issues with passing goalkeeper so its is likely team did work on this issue during training session but it is questionable if it did achieve as it did short period to work on it. Without doubt, Diagne needs to take more key role during this game for side to win.

Its hard to call Galatasaray as favourite due of situation within club and they would have tough 90 minutes.
