What happened in Turkish football today? 05/11/2020

Sivasspor got its first win at Europa League with smart tactical game.

Sivasspor has got its 1st win during this Europa League competition with beating Qarabag with 2:0 scoreline providing very organised and patient game allowing Azeri side to control it but with good defensive organised game prevented them to get good opportunities.

Sivasspor has decided rather then showing fast tempo game with preventing Qarabag to get high amount of strong opportunities even through giving them possession of the ball which it did very good as more or less ball has been on their feets but only had one good opportunity which did come on 1st half. Stating that with creating some opportunities and finding 2 pretty good organised game which did come to some extend with good counter-attack performance. To some extend this game style could be criticised but it needs to be noted that Sivasspor also provides this kind of game tactics in domestic leagues so it used what it does best which led them to get such good opportunity and without doubt even through it did look like it showed defensive game, Sivasspor still been side to find goals and looking into overall game it was visible that Sivasspor did come for win. This win did put into aim to get out from group while losing would mean it would come out for last 2 weeks for formalities so this result foremost would keep opportunities arrive and provide motivation for rest of the games in the group.

As would been expected Qarabag did come for this game with win which it did transform into possessing ball from start to an  end but did have issue with getting into opportunities and hence find goals.

Sivasspor did get crucial win without doubt and would now looking forward for next week at the group again against Qarabag where same outcome could give them into control of its own fate for knockout stage.

Basaksehirspor showed it wanted to win game.

Basaksehirspor without doubt got historical result against Manchester United where it has won with 2:1 scoreline providing strong game especially at 1st half with using into maximum level of defence mistakes of opponent.

Even through Manchester United does provide unstable performance in domestic league, up to this game it showed very strong performance against difficult opponents so it was expected for Manchester United to come out as strong favourites, but site did provide view it didnt take Basaksehirspor seriously. On part of Basaksehirspor, it needs to be acknowledge that with how side performed for 90 minutes, forward seeking 1st half and defensive focussed in 2nd half, made it clear that did make it clear it wanted to win game. In fact, both in league and Champions League in games where it find its 1st goals of season it also showed very good game providing confident attacking game. With getting this win also Basaksehirspor could have some aims for this group but it would be difficult task but at least it woudl have some aims.

Our blog keep saying that Basaksehirspor did come out without much pressure, and even through there is not much expectation in this group it would be pressurised to provide similar game in rest of the games in group for sure.

Gaziantep if plays its usual game could give different moments to Besiktas

Besiktas following poor start of the season, would be now looking for to get 3 wins back-to-back as it going to meet Gaziantep at Super League 8th week, opponent which could provide some difficult time to opponent.

It needs to be acknowledge that last 2 weeks of Besiktas didnt provide much pressure to them which made them to get those wins, with all respect to all clubs in question but Gaziantep which even through does come out as underdogs could provide fast tempo game which Besiktas does seem to be having issues to preventing in this season. With taking account that Besiktas does struggle to raise tempo into wanted points, it would be interesting how Besiktas would respond to opponent if of course they would show positive game. If Gaziantep is aware that open football with fast tempo could bring result against Besiktas, it could have chance.

Gaziantep hence does have potential to give good test to Besiktas and it would be interesting to see how side would respond to this game.
