What happened in Turkish football today? 07/03/2019

Senol Gunes would have hard time to work with Besiktas and Turkish National Team in this month.

Besiktas and Turkish National Team head coach Senol Gunes continues to be at the top of discussion at Turkish football, as he has made public statement about all of the rumours and talks about his appointment to number 1 position at Turkish football.

Foremost, Senol Gunes has made it clear that he would be staying at the position of Besiktas head coach until end of the season and has stated that he didnt lie when talked about not wanting to coach both teams. He added that it wasnt possible for him to decline position for Turkish National Team and if he doesnt join team during March games of Euro2020, he and his club would recieve very high fine for not coming to the job. This statement meanwhile does show that TFF interestingly did make decision of appointment of himself either without discussing much with Senol Gunes and Besiktas or has done that in very limited manner without taking account his considerations. This once again raises question into mindset which Senol Gunes would have at national team position on those first 2 games as being focussed into two different teams is not an easy task and especially only few weeks left until those games to be taking place. This does provide a view if TFF has made a rush decision with such announcement and didnt plan lots of thing in good manner.

It is surprising to see that  TFF has decided to bring back Senol Gunes in such a manner without waiting for summer and not finding some replacement of him for next 2 games.

Trabzonspor player Olcay Sahan contract has been reduced to 1 year as he rejoined training camp.

It became clear that Trabzonspor has reduced contract of its player Olcay Sahan from end of 2020 to 2019 after he has been forgiven from team administration and has called back to the squad.

It was known that Olcay Sahan would be joining back and train again with a team from yesterday, but Olcay Sahan via social media made this announcement publicly and has joined training camp of his team at short notice. It was also become clear after while that this return of Olcay Sahan has come out with some negotiations between sides, where it looks that Trabzonspor has made an agreement with some moficiations of the contract, as Olcay Sahan contract end has been changed to this end of the season rather than next season, which either financially or gamewise has shown that Trabzonspor doesnt have much plans to work with player any more. It does look at least that both sides has made deal without much issues as Olcay Sahan looked to be satisfied back to training session.

Trabzonspor would now return to training session and could be good help with his experience to make sure that Trabzonspor does end at least at Europa League spots at the end of the season.

Mbiaye Diagne is not yet adapted to Galatasaray.

One of the discussing topics of Turkish football more or less since end of mid-season transfer window, has been of performance of Galatasaray player Mbiaye Diagne as he only found one goal with his new club.

With coming from Kasimpasa with 20 goals, Diagne has been expected to solve Galatasaray goal issue but he didnt provide this change as he has found only one goal which came from penalty during Trabzonspor game. It does look like Diagne for now does have issue to get adapted to new bigger club as it tends to be case with some players mediocre teams. When joining clubs which has aims for league title, it does provide an additional pressure to players who are not used to this despite of great performance in previous clubs. This has been seen before but Diagne needs to find goals and also show good performance to turn this around as he does have this potential at the team but one of his poor sides at Galatasaray is not getting into positions a lot and creating them rather he is waiting for ball come to him, system which worked at Kasimpasa but doesnt work so much as Kasimpasa as team is always tends to be at move at field.

Mbiaye Diagne does need to find goals as been stated and this could solve some issues of lack of finding goals at his new club.
