What happened in Turkish football today? 21/03/2019

New beginning at national team with Senol Gunes as team would meet with Albania.

Turkish National Team is going to start its new chapter during Euro 2020 qualifiers against Albania as it would be 1st game for Senol Gunes as Turkish National Team head coach after 14 years and certainly would be aiming to make this 4-year period as memorable as previous one.

As most of you would know, Turkish National Team has got 3rd place during World Cup 2002 at which Senol Gunes has been at coach position and has pushed one of the best squads this team had to get such great achievements. It would its new journey against Albania at the game where Turkey would be coming as favourite but it needs to be reminded that Albania does provide some quality performance in recent years and even through are not favourite at the group and game, it could provide some difficult time and in fact historically Turkey does tend to have Albania to be going difficult. Even through this squad does contain number of younger players, average age has been raised at this squad compare to Lucescu as Gunes has decided to focus into more experienced players especially Emre Belozoglu and Burak Yilmaz who does provide good performance at their clubs and hence deserve to be selected for sure.

Turkey would be certainly focussing to win against Albania and Moldova but more importantly it also needs to provide game which would many have high hopes and signs for close future.

Clubs Union heavily wants for foreign limit to stay as it is.

As limit of foreign players has been discussed once again at Turkish football world, Clubs Union has made a meeting between each other to mainly discuss this issue and has come to conclusion to at least keep this system for next season due of number of contracts club has with its players.

Following meeting, Club's Union and Besiktas CEO Fikret Orman have stated that despite of 2-3 clubs, all of the clubs has stated that it should have kept this foreign player limit as it would assist to keep quality of league at high note and raise quality of the game and also affect positively to Turkish players also in return. The main focus it has stated that its not about limit, but focus which should be given to academies system at how it develops players into high level and how much service it does to the Turkish football. In other hand, Trabzonspor CEO Ahmet Agaoglu has stated that foreign player limit should be reduced to 8 and should be done stage by stage due once again of ongoing contract team have. Trabzonspor, rightfully in their perspective, does state that when focussing to Turkish players as it does could provide view that system can be worked in effective manner. Number of clubs such as Rizespor, Goztepe tend to be agreed with such a view.

Once again its need to reminded that Club's Union doesnt provide final decision but as body provides valuable suggestion to TFF and it does provide some strong arguments, even through not in unanimous way. TFF is likely to listen to this statement and possible report to make its decision about limit.

Real Madrid interested with Ozan Kabak.

One of the interesting transfer rumours taking place right now are talks that Real Madrid does have an interest to transfer Stuttgart player Ozan Kabak who carries on showing high level performance at Bundesliga after joining them from Galatasaray.

Taking account that Ozan Kabak is only 21-year old and still  needs to take experience, it could be seen that if Real Madrid really has some interests with player than its more like a plan for future. Still rumour which was provided from Spanish newspaper Marca, does provide that Real Madrid does identify high expectation from Ozan Kabak which by itself is great achievement from Kabak and does provide that he is at right track. Being selected to Turkish National Team games against Albania and Moldova would also provide good chance for player to show his valuable to even more across Europe. As been hinted, Real Madrid interest, if true, towards Ozan Kabak would be focussed to make him mainly play in future but working with Zenedine Zidane by itself would be huge pressure and experience for player if transfer will happen.

Time would show if this talks are true but it would be certainly one of the best transfers of Turkish player in recent history.
