What happened in Turkish football today? 15/03/2019

Fenerbahce has got an important win despite of poor performance.

Fenerbahce has got an important win against Sivasspor during Super League 26th week game with 2:1 scoreline which could be key win to make sure that their would be staying at the league and would also enter to 2-week international break with good mood.

It needs to be stated that until last 20 minutes, it is hard to state that Fenerbahce has provided a very good performance and has actually made number of defensive mistakes during last minutes of the game, at the time where it needed to mainly focus into defensive game. With bottom half of the table being very close right now this win could provide very important win as at the standings and hence it would push away from position of being at relegation zone even through all of their opponents at the zone would still need to play so its early to see how advantegous side is. Still, Fenerbahce didnt provide a great game at all and it needs to be aware of that and has needed to do many works during 2-week break and in game wise it doesnt provide a view that it would be able to be show good performance. Still, it was important for Fenerbahce for sure to provide right reaction following conceding goal from Sivasspor and also recieving some fan supporters protest until goal has come in 1 minute time after conceding. This reaction at least shows that players aware of danger but still this performance is not enough.

Sivasspor meanwhile which has been more or less in better position at the table has pushed team to provide more controllable game and looking for at least draw which has allowed them to control game. It needs to be stated that Fenerbahce has provided good attacking game in last minutes but couldnt overpass Fenerbahce goalkeeper Harun Tekin.

Fenerbahce has got an important win but as always it needs to show continuation of this performance to make this win meaningful and make much more certain for staying at league.

Besiktas would aim to get good win against Goztepe to regain confidence.

Besiktas would be aiming to enter to international break with a win against struggling this season Goztepe and hence keep its aims for at least Champions League 2nd-place spot as it would be aiming to provide even better game it did during last week.

It needs to be stated that Besiktas has lost its trust and support from fans as soon as it became clear that Senol Gunes would become head coach of the team and possibly playing this week game at away would even turn into advantage as it wont get negative support. It also important for Besiktas in mental sense to get number of wins as with this supporters might calm down with their protests as team would start getting positive result. Stating that it needs to be noted that Goztepe is currently at relegation zone with 1 point behind of safety zone and playing at home it would certainly aim to get an important result and regain confidence and motivation both at race to stay at league as it would win strong side. Besiktas are coming out as favourite but it is important in here for Senol Gunes to provide as much as possible focus to this game and put on the day Euro2020 qualifiers at the side which would be coming out next week against Andorra and Moldova.

Besiktas are going through difficult times and hence as team it needs to be aiming to get a win against Goztepe and more importantly get it with good performance also for confidence.

Trabzonspor needs to get back-to-back wins.

Despite of having pretty unstable season, Trabzonspor still has an opportunity to finish league at 3rd spot especially taking account that Besiktas which is ahead of them are having unstable season.

Even through Trabzonspor on paper does look to be favourite during 26th week game against Erzurumspor, it needs to be mentioned that their opponents are showing great performance at home ground. In fact, one of the interesting things about Erzurumspor that it is showing good performance but that doesnt been affected positively to results, even through an appointment of Hamza Hamzaoglu as club's head coach could provide some changes. Trabzonspor on other hand does need for team to start getting back-to-back wins and to have this opportunity it would be important for team to enter 2-week break with high confidence which could be gained from Erzurumspor game for sure as it does have quality to show good performance. But as been mentioned it needs to remember that Erzurumspor does show good effective performance at home and as team aims to stay at league, their would certainly aim to carry on high level performance for sure.

Trabzonspor as been mentioned are favourites, but it needs to provide high level performance if it wants to stay at fighting for top 4 spots next season.
