Basaksehirspor has continued top level performance after surprising performance last season.
Following very impressive last season from Basaksehirspor which has ended season at 2nd placed, there was big curiosity if club would be able to continue its level of performance and be able to fight for league title. Without doubt club has fulfilled this aim, and despite ending season at 1 place lower it has managed to stay at race until last week and only 1 point behind from last season.
Basaksehirspor as would been remembered has provided its transfer politics during last summer and also midseason to strengthen their team and even through its average age has been risen, it was still able to show competitve game. In fact, in the point of league ending with same points between Galatasaray and Fenerbahce it would become champions which does show that it carried on top level performance against big 4 teams, including it had upper hand against Besiktas. It needs to reduce this connection next season to reduce antipathy which it has gained during this season.
Basaksehirspor would be starting next season with high aims aiming to improve this season Europa League performance where it wasnt able to get to knockout stages and also continue top level performance in 3rd season getting possibly closer to title race. To achieve that it needs as other clubs to have effective transfer politics this summer.
Champions League and Fenerbahce game at Turkish Cup has led for Besiktas to end season at 4th place.
With Besiktas being seen without doubt as best team during past 2 seasons, it has started season with high hopes and despite of losing Turkish Super Cup to Konyaspor, it has shown great performance in some sections of league but more importantly became most successful club at Champions League history from Turkey at group stage.
Performance of Besiktas at Champions League without doubt deserves high level of praise and this blog during whole season has just done that. But showing high level performance both at Super League and Champions League has very difficult task and providing priority to Champions League has costed them good performance at domestic. Still with this season top teams losing high amount of points until last stage of the season has always kept Besiktas at title race. Therefore, even through Champions League did prevent them getting control of league, the team without doubt has lost title race ironically at Turkish Cup semi-final stage against Fenerbahce. With psychological effect did infamous events which led for Besiktas head coach Senol Gunes to get 4 stitches in his head, and decision of TFF to complete game has provided loss of concentration. This factor without doubt has affected to Galatasaray performance which their had lost. This blog has stated that this derby game might not decided champion of league (even through to some extend it actually did), it would lose title for loser. Akhisarspor has shown big surprise with winning Turkish Cup.
One of the surprising sides of this season without doubt has been Akhisarspor which even through had been in danger to be eliminated from Super League prior to 33rd week, has managed to win Turkish Cup beating Fenerbahce at final and Galatasaray at semi-final.
In fact, Akhisarspor has become one of the deciders of the season as it believed that Akhisarspor winning Fenerbahce beating twice at the league also has cost their opponents title. Even through Fenerbahce did lose many points during this season, Akhisarspor role in this aspect has been a lot and it needs to be stated that even through it has ended season below it has been among one of the effective teams. It has won Akhisarspor with good strategic performance from side head coach Okan Buruk who has studied Fenerbahce all the time finding ways how to beat sides. One of the key players of this success is without doubt Yevhen Seleznyov who has joined team during mid-season transfer window from Karabukspor and has provided much better attacking performance at the team and by many is seen among best players of the season.
Akhisarspor would now focus to make their team stronger during summer transfer window as it would be competing at Europa League group stage as cup winners and also aiming to improve theirperformance from this season at the league during next season.
