What happened in Turkish football today? 02/03/2022

Turkish Cup holders has lost at quarter-final against Kayserispor

Turkish Cup winners Besiktas has been relegated at the quarter-final after losing to Kayserispor with 2:1 scoreline as Kayserispor continues showing strong performance against big clubs.

Without doubt after relegating Fenerbahce on previous round at the competition and taking account that Besiktas is showing similar performance during this season, did provide confidence and motivation for this game. It needs to be mentioned that even through Besiktas didnt lose in recent weeks, it needs to be noted that it fails to provide 90 minutes high level game with losing tempo towards end of the game and therefore this has also affected to the Turkish Cup even more as opponents would be focussed even more against them and hence Kayserispor did provide much more organisation and effort which without doubt has played important role for Besiktas losing game as it did provide currently its maximum level of performance. This game without doubt shows that Besiktas need to improve its performance if it wants to end season at top 4 spots.

Kayserispor winning against Besiktas it needs to be noted should not be seen as big surprise in this season as also not beating Fenerbahce during previous reason as it did show very strong and confident performance and would now meet against Trabzonspor as it would target another big club.

Kayserispor is having very good performance at Turkish Cup while Besiktas has more or less lost due of same kind of performance which it shows in the league.

Sivasspor gets to Turkish Cup semi-final after beating Fatih Karagumruk

Sivasspor has reached to semi-final after beating Fatih Karagumruk with single goal from Yatabare on 70th minute as game been played for most of the time in the middle with precaution game.

It needs to be noted that this game would be played in the middle as differences between sides are not very big with Sivasspor did come out as slighly more advantage position for playing home and being more familiar with cold weather and field condition. Still, its been precautious game as both sides without doubt did focus into getting towards final game in the tournament. Fatih Karagumruk on their part did provide also organising game and did get into number of some good performance. Meanwhile, they player Baroni has been taken into hospital after getting spasm but now is reported to be in good condition. Sivasspor did provide patient game and now would be waiting for its opponent at the semi-final.

Sivasspor did use advantage of playing home and would now focus to continue such performance at the next stage for sure.

Trabzonspor continues its confident journey for double.

Trabzonspor gets to the Turkish Cup semi-final with pretty confident scoreline of 2:0 against Antalyaspor as it continues its aim to end season with double titles.

It needs to be noted that Trabzonspor did come almost with ideal squad to the game and showed from 1st moment that it is seeking to get win on this game with once again providing strong pressure to Antalyaspor with finding early goal at 12th minute with Edin Visca. To some extend, Antalyspor did rise level of performance in start of 2nd half with creating some crucial chances on their part but didnt use them which to some extend did go on hand for Trabzonspor as Berat Ozdemir has found goal on 83rd minute which ended game for Antalyaspor. With having 17 point advantage at domestic league there is expectation that it would focus more now to Turkish Cup.

Trabzonspor is providing confident performance in both tournaments and focussed into getting double for sure.
