What happened in Turkish football today? 10/03/2022

Galatasaray keeps its tie alive with goalless draw against Barcelona

Galatasaray gets very important draw against football giant Barcelona with 0:0 scoreline at Camp Nou during Europa League last 16 1st leg game and is keeping alive its ticket for next stage as it would be meeting 2nd leg in Istanbul.

There were lots of talks that one of the main advantages for Galatasaray for this game would be factor that Domenec Torrent has been working with Barcelona for lots of years and hence would be knowing well how to play against opponent. Focussing into defensive game and not going through too much respect for opponent, Galatasaray has managed for Barcelona to not be very productive as partly it did prevent its opponent to play its best game while for 2nd part, Barcelona were not in best days. Galatasaray due of poor recent results in domestic league didnt come to this game with high hopes and expectations but it did show pretty opposite with staying only club this season in competition which didnt concede goal. Galatasaray without doubt did get very important result as it is highly expected for supporters during 2nd leg to provide strong push to the side forward.

Even through Galatasaray did play important role for Barcelona to show strong dominant game in the front, it needs to be mentioned that Barcelona also has shown dissapointing performance with failing to show strong attacking game.

Galatasaray without doubt showed strong defensive game and got deserved goalless draw and could now look for 2nd leg with high optimism without doubt.

Its still unclear why referees were taken for last 10 weeks.

Decision from Central Referee Committee for not including 12 referees for last 10 weeks of the season continues to be most discussed talks as Clubs Union CEO Ahmet Agaoglu has made some statements regarding of the issues.

Its been seen that there is some discussion regarding of this decision among clubs with some CEOs supporting such decision and some being against it according to Agaoglu but all being unhappy with decision. It needs to be noted that even if TFF were right to make decision it is being unclear why its been decided to do so with league getting into concluison and we are entering to last weeks as this without doubt would provide also high amount of pressure to current referees for 10 weeks. Without doubt there is lots of questions regarding of this unprecended decision such as why its been done, why right now and what is being future plans as committee CEO Ferhat Gundogdu didnt provide much clear answers regarding issue.

Such decisions is being interesting and unexpected from Central Referee Committee and community requests clear explanation.

Yeni Malatyaspor terminates contract with Didier Ndong

Yeni Malatyaspor has terminated contract with its player Didier Ndong as team is cleaning players which it believes is not being help for them as it desperately tries to stay at the league.

Being located in the last spot in the table, Yeni Malatyaspor are going through some important changes which to be frank were not successful to stay in the league and to some extened this decision is also not being very productive as it does need to use maximum of its squad as it urgently needs to find and hence terminating contract with Didier Ndong could provide more issues then solution unless reason is located with some more serious issues which were not reported. Team needs urgently to find points and it would be interesting to see solutions.

With current decisions Yeni Malatyaspor is going through some changes and some more could be coming in upcoming period.
