What happened in Turkish football today? 22/08/2021

Fenerbahce has got well-fought win against Antalyaspor.

Fenerbahce has won Super League 2nd week against Antalyaspor with goals coming in the last minute as Antalyaspor showed anti-football game but Fenerbahce showed some character despite having of some crucial absences.

Even through due of limited players which Fenerbahce had on they disposal due of injuries especially in the front and having trouble to find goal until 89th minute, it needs to be noted that Fenerbahce did provide right attitude and did show to be side which was coming out to game especially in 2nd half. In fact, Fenerbahce was providing so much pressure during that period of time, Antalyaspor which did play obviously for draw start providing anti-football with doing everything to waste time including to be lying down. It was stated by club that with so many injuries, its been important for them to get points regardless how it achieves that and it did get such performance. Without doubt finding 2 goals in the end of the game would provide very important motivation and confidence both to whole side and also personally to Miha Zajc and Enner Valencia.

Antalyaspor on their part did provide in some moments defensive game but it needs to be noted that for almost 2nd half it did show anti-fooball with providing some attacking game with conceding. Therefore, Antalyaspor should possible change it tactics.

Fenerbahce did get important with making 2 out of 2 and got well-fought win against Antalyaspor gaining very important confidence for upcoming games including against HJK.

Besiktas were from their used tempo against Gaziantep.

Besiktas did provide pretty passive and low tempo game against Gaziantep during Super League 2nd week being pretty far from level of game which it shown in opening week against Rizespor and last season.

It did look like Besiktas did have issues to get into needed tempo of the game from beginning and with Gaziantep providing strong defensive game in organised manner it should be noted that it has been to some extend fair result, and in fact could be argued that Gaziantep has been one which did lose points when looking into dangerous opportunities it got in the end of the game with side not being able to convert opportunities. Therefore, when looking into level and strategics of the game, Gaziantep been better side knowing what it aimed for. Meanwhile, there were some worrying developments which took place with with Fabrice N'Sakala who did lose conscience during game but is being reported to be at good condition right now.

Besiktas did been far from its used tempo and would now focus into providing better game next week before national team break.

Galatasaray will have tough time against Hatayspor

Galatasaray would be returning to Super League 2nd week game against Hatayspor which could be pretty tough game as their opponents for most of time tend to show strong and controllable game against strong sides in previos season.

Galatasaray did have pretty interesting and difficult week starting with incident of Marcao-Kerem Akturkoglu during opening week game and also draw against Randers at Europa League. Therefore, Galatasaray would be focussing to provide much more focussed and confident performance, but Hatayspor as been noted is kind of side which could prevent this as it is being very organised both in defence and attack. Therefore, Galatasaray would need to provide fast tempo to get through such organisation from opponent if it wants to get win and regain confidence which bit been damaged in past week.

Galatasaray will be coming as favourite but Hatayspor is capable to provide issues to them.
