What happened in Turkish football today? 14/01/2021

Fenerbahce got to last quarter-final with slow tempo game

Fenerbahce has entered to quarter-final with beating Kasimpasa with 1:0 scoreline thanks to Samatta goal with providing also minumum scoreline focussing into result rather than providing strong attacking game.

There could be provided some critcism towards Fenerbahce without providing very high tempo and too much opportunities but it should be added that side is being very intensive timetable thanks to TFF organisation of the league which does affect to quality of football. Despite of that it should be admitted that Fenerbahce did come out to the gane with providing game to be focussed into win with showing high concentration as providing low tempo does need to have specifically high attention. In fact, with Fenerbahce showing controlled game lately, it still managed to win 5 games back-to-back which does show that side does provide right performance getting result which it seeks for. It also needs to be admitted that side did come with squad which could be seen as 2nd ideal starting 11 which many clubs at Super League would be happy to have it as ideal squad and it could be noted players did show performance accordingly. Only issue which could be noted from Fenerbahce perspective could be letting opponent to have high amount of opportunities as game been developing.

Kasimpasa meanwhile did show very good game with creating high amount of the chances providing strong attacking focussed game but did lack to get last touches but does provide some positive aspect this time on league since its been eliminated fromt his competition obviously.

Fenerbahce did get very good result without providing too much effort which could cost them game, but being highly concentrated in such game let them enter to quarter-final of competition.

Besikts got to next stage with showing poor game

Besiktas has reached to quarter-final of Turkish Cup with beating Rizespor thanks to minumum score with Cyle Larin continuing to take leading goal scorer in side with 85th minute header.

Despite of win it is difficult to stat Besiktas did provide strong and attacking game with high tempo which we are used to see from this side as it been focussed much more into slow tempo game possibly being distracted with mentally and tactically to Galatasaray game. With Rizespor on return also being heavily focussed into defensive style game it did lead for them to get such poor game which wasnt suitable for Besiktas but this time it would not be right for Besiktas solely to blame closed game of Rizespor, which needed to show some kind of reaction after losing to them with 6:0 on previous week, so it would been accepted from them. Issue to some extend has been for Besiktas failing to get high number of opportunities as game has been developing without providing too much pressure to Besiktas.

In the end of the day, Besiktas still did get win without providing too much effort which did gain motivation for Galatasaray derby game but performance was dissapointing.

Hatayspor transfers Muhammet Demir for 2.5 + 1 years

Hatayspor has strengthened their squad with Altinordu player Muhammed Demir with 2.5 +1 years focussing to strenght its midfielding position for rest of the season.

Our blog did mention that one of the most important position in this league is being midfield and hence it was expectable for Hatayspor to get transfer in such position with signing potential future stars of Turkish football from Altinordu as player would get opportunity to show his skill in the top league. With this mid-transfer window being pretty quite due of several known reasons, clubs would be focussing into making transfers which would be crucial side and this transfer for sure is being crucial spot for Hatayspor who aims to keep at top half during season.

Hatayspor hence did transfer player who will strengh while Demir would get opportunity to prove himself at top league.
