What happened in Turkish football today? 01/01/2021

Galatasaray will start year against Antalyaspor.

Galatasaray would be playing its first game of 2021 against Antalyaspor where it would be aiming to provide its top performance which it did show in recent weeks as their do have some big aims for this year.

With looking how Galatasaray in this period of time, excluding Fatih Karagumruk game, Galatasaray would be coming as strong favourites with Fatih Terim still having his ban, to some extend this provided opposite effect to side as whole club seems to be more focussed and motivated for this games and would be focussing for sure with showing strong and attacking game while Antalyaspor  is not going through high motivation with losing its last game of 2020 with 6:0 loss, adding that it only have 3 days to prepare game with New Year Eve being in between could provide question how much mentally and physically they would be ready for this game which would be advantage for Galatasaray.

Galatasaray hence would be likely more focussed for game but still it needs to provide its game which it did in last game to get strong outcome.

Omar Ellabdelloui got damage from fireworks to his eyes.

Even through most of us very likely did have great night of New Year Eve even through of lockdowns rules for many of us, it could be noted that celebration for Galatasaray Omar Elabdelloui didnt go well due of fireworks incident.

During of celebration with his family with holding small fireworks with aim to protect his children, according to Galatasaray CEO Mustafa Cengiz, he got eye damage on both eyes with one having much more damage. It is reported that initial operation on the night did go well and he doesnt look to be having much more serious effects but as known eye being very sensible part of body it is hard to predict with doctors stating that needed checkups would be done on 2nd January after which it would be decided what other medical measures on both of his eyes, but it is expected that at best it would be taken some weeks but at the end he would not have too much complications.

This without doubt being unwanted development and as our blog we wish fast recovery to Omar Elabdelloui with this unexpected accident.

Ozdemir plans to accept supporters to game after March.

TFF CEO Nihat Ozdemir, in our view once again prematurely, did state that there is plan to bring supporters to game after March situation does allow it.

Our long term, or at least from summer followers, would be remembered our statement of its not necessarily what you plan, because Covid19 is one which rules actions as continues to be seen. It is true that vaccination, which did start in some countries, does give hope for taking control of virus but for not its pretty immature. Plus, Ozdemir did state that his plans supporters in some given time several times dates which didnt end. Meanwhile, with all games of 1st half seems to be played without supporters it might be unfair. Stating that, even through games without supporters affect atmosphere and TV viewers directly, it is known that main reason is being under cash as been mentioned at our year-end blog entry on previous day.

Therefore time would show if his plans would turn into reality in such unexpected times with Covid19 situation.
