What happened in Turkish football today? 22/01/2020

Besiktas  has been relegated from Erzurumspor showing that team in crises.

Besiktas has got unexpected loss to Erzurumspor during Turkish Cup last 16 2nd leg game against Erzurumspor losing with 3:2 scoreline and hence been relegated from competition after losing 1st leg with same scoreline and carries on showing poor performance in 2020.

As it is known, Besiktas did start 2020 with high aims both in Turkish Cup and Super League but getting 10 points behind Sivasspor after losing to them in league and now been relegated from Turkish Cup, following loss to 2nd division side. Stating that Erzurumspor as would been expected shown great performance against top 4 sides despite of being relegated from Super League last season. Besiktas didnt look to be specifically focussed once again to this game and even through did find 2 goals, its defence did provide some poor performance making defence mistakes and providing view that defensive side of the team is not strong enough to get needed results for team. Therefore, Besiktas doesnt look to be side which can provided needed performance to get league title and even through it did provide positive view some part this season, Abdullah Avci is not in level to lead team to title.

Erzurumspor meanwhile does provide impressive performance and provided forward-seeking performance against Besiktas without giving up to Besiktas in 2 legs even through it did concede goals during game, kind of performance which been seems to be lacked with many mediocre sides. This attitude could lead to some more great results in competition.

Outcome of game does show without doubt that Besiktas is at serious crises and trust towards Abdullah Avci in all sides should be getting less and less both from administrators and supporters.

Fenerbahce has got confident win against Kayserispor.

Fenerbahce has got comfortable ticket to Turkish Cup quarter final after beating Kayserispor with 2:0 scoreline as their opponents didnt provide any pressure to its opponents, allowing Fenerbahce to control game.

With Fenerbahce without doubt providing also more concentrated and higher tempo in this game when comparing to 1st leg did naturally for team to get full control of the game and find 2 goals during 1st half. With Kayserispor probably more focussed to game in Super League as it would be putting staying at the league without doubt could have direct impact for such poor performance. It needs also to be noted importance of Mevlut Erdinc to score his 2nd goal, which is being his first goal in this club during competitive game and could help to regain focus and confidence as he has been regularly substituted, with same going to Ferdi Kadioglu who even through did provide good performance. It also needs to be noted that Adil Rami both physically and mentally provided best performance since joining club.

Fenerbahce did get easy win and would now could focus to Basaksehirspor game without any tiredness of full squad for sure.

Galatasaray will aim to carry on its momentum against Rizespor.

Galatasaray will be aiming to carry on positive momentum which it has got from Denizlispor league game, as it would be coming to Turkish Cup last 16 2nd leg game after drawing with 1:1 scoreline at away game.

As Galatasaray head coach Fatih Terim has stated team is not yet providing its best performance but its getting there, with best way to achieve that is to make this performance into regular level and of course getting positive results. With team looking for this perfect game, it could be expected that many regular players would also be starting game tomorrow, with newly-signed players also starting during game. Galatasaray with having small advantage of away goal would be coming to game as favourites but it would be important for them to show this in field. Rizespor which does take Turkish Cup seriously, would be expected to provide some good resistance during game for sure which would lead for Istanbul side to be highly concentrated during game.

Galatasaray does come out as favourites during its status and also momentum it got from Denizlispor but Rizespor would come out some resistance towards them.
