What happened in Turkish football today? 05/02/2019

Trabzonspor didnt manage to get through Umraniyespor at Turkish Cup.

Trabzonspor didnt manage to get a  win against its opponent at the home ground during Turkish Cup quarterfinal 1st leg game against surprising side of this season competition Umraniyespor even through Trabzonspor has provided an attacking game.

It needs to be stated that Trabzonspor even through has been one which was creating high amount of the chances, it didnt get into tempo which was used by them on previous games and have some lack of providing last touches. It does need to be stated that even through Trabzonspor still provides reasonably well performance, it does look to be away from 1st half of the season and does look to be have lacking of creating final touches at the attack which was also visible during today's game. Still, Trabzonspor which did come out with number of players and also goalkeeper Arda Akbulut, only being 18-year old, has played his 1st game and has managed to keep game at the goalless draw as Umraniyespor has also created some chances. Since 2nd leg would be played in Umraniyespor field, it could be stated that team did lose an advantage from its home ground.

Umraniyespor meanwhile has managed to provide good game which it has gathered from recent results, including passing Fenerbahce at the previous round of Turkish Cup, and has provided some good performance and shows that it would be providing high level performance during 2nd leg game.

Trabzonspor would need to now focus at the Galatasaray game to keep their chances alive for at least 2nd place spot at the league and forget this game and focus into improving with its performances and find solutions to get into good tempo for upcoming games.

Galatasaray would try not to have much issue against surprise side Hatayspor.

Galatasaray is going to resume their aim for getting this season Turkish Cup with game against 1st league division Hatayspor during quarter-final stage as their opponents have eliminated league leaders in confident manner in previous stage.

With Galatasaray being among one of the two big 4 sides left at the Turkish Cup, it should be stated that it would be aiming to end season with this title especially taking account that it does find itself 8 points behind league leaders Basaksehirspor right now and hence would be taking game in serious manner. It is true that Galatasaray does come out as strong favourites for this game but as been mentioned Hatayspor has managed to eliminate Basaksehirspor on previous round and hence with getting with good scoreline would be aiming to provide another surprise to Galatasaray and hence would give all their chances and playing like it has nothing to lose. With Galatasaray still uncapable of playing really perfect football and some areas of lack has been clear at last game against Alanyaspor, Hatayspor would not be blamed to give chance. But it is important for Hatayspor still be aware who their are playing against even if Galatasaray is likely to come out with reserve side.

Galatasaray as been mentioned would be coming out as favourite for the game and also whole tie and with taking account that only Trabzonspor is left among known clubs, it would be seen as among main favourites to win title.

Yeni Malatyaspor might be favourite but Goztepe would aim to give good football for sure. 

One of the two Super League clubs to be played at Turkish Cup quarter-final would be between Yeni Malatyaspor and Goztepe as both sides would be aiming to get to the semi-final stage of the tournament.

Even through it needs to be noted that both sides are playing similar style of game, it could be seen that still Yeni Malatyaspor would be coming as favourites for the game as their are in better condition right now and does provide much better games even through it could be argued that their performance did drop from 1st half of the season. Goztepe meanwhile without providing same level of performance which has been expected by them this season as compare to last season would be seeing Turkish Cup as last chance to provide top level performance and hence would come out to the game with an extra motivation and priority as compare to their opponents fighting for Europa League at the league could be difficult task for them this season. Therefore, it would be close game with both sides aiming to get an advantage scoreline for 2nd leg.

Yeni Malatyaspor with both team performances are coming out as favourite but still it is close one to call for sure at this tie and hence it promises to be two intense games between side.
