What happened in Turkish football today? 04/02/2019

Besiktas players has shown great concentration to the game against Antalyaspor.

Besiktas has managed to get an comfortable win during Super League 20th week game against Antalyaspor with 6:2 scoreline even through it still didnt manage to show fully dominating game for 90 minutes.

Even if it could be stated that their were parts of the game when Besiktas has been out of the game, as been noted by head coach Senol Gunes after game it should be stated that players has shown full concentration and willingness as number of the players has shown great players especially Dorukhan Tokoz, Adem Ljajic and Atiba Hutchinson who among scoring goals has also played an important role at the midfield. However, the main star of the game has been Shinji Kagawa who despite of playing only 8 minutes, has found 2 goals from 2 shots after entering at 82nd minute. It does look from this performance of Kagawa that team has got another star player who would provide an exciting performance at the team in upcoming games for sure. Besiktas would be expected also to improve at the upcoming games with joining of the Kagawa and would provide a great game, even through it needs to be admitted that for scoreline to 4:1 did play its role for Kagawa to get those chances.

Besiktas still has chance to end league at 2nd place and hence get Champions League qualifying spot, and Kagawa does seem to be helping for team to achieve this aim.

Trabzonspor would be aiming for win in against Umraniyespor.

Turkish Cup quarter-final stage would be starting with Trabzonspor and one of the surprising side of the Cup this season Umraniyespor who has passed Fenerbahce during previous round and hence would be coming to game aiming to provide another surprise at the competition.

Trabzonspor has got once again a motivation and confidence which it has lost at the league during 2019 following win against Ankaragucu with 1:0 scoreline and as it would be meeting with Galatasaray at the league on 10th February it would be aiming to show top level performance with its mainly substitute and reserve players against Umraniyespor and keep its high motivation.
Umraniyespor would be need to be aware that it would meet with difficult opponent, as compare to period when Umraniyespor did meet with Fenerbahce, Trabzonspor are showing better performance and with also an opportunity to go all the way this season as their are strongest opponent for winning cup would be Trabzonspor, side could set an important task for this season is to get Turkish Cup. Trabzonspor would be coming as favourite for the game but it would be tough game for them and hence it should be focussed in such manner.

Trabzonspor as been mentioned would be aiming to carry on its good performance and would likely to show an attacking and quality game against Umraniyespor at the quarter-final game.

Basaksehirspor connection with Parliament has been discussed actively among public.

Their has been lots of conversation at the recent week about if Basaksehirspor has been financed by government and if it would be recieving an additional financing from the government at the recent weeks but club has denied those rumours.

It has not been secret for long time, as Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan has been stated himself at the pre-local election programme at national team that he is proud for club which has been founded when mayor of Istanbul at being close at getting league title. Their are have been strong talks that team also been financed by government and even through their is no exact proof available it is questionable how can team can find money for transfer those players while all teams, including big ones, have financial issues. It is true that money does come from selling its players, including Cengiz Under, and it is financed in good manner but with club openning being close to government and now being stated by President that he is close to the team does make it clear that their are finances coming from Istanbul mayorship at least, but it is questionable so far.

With Basaksehirspor running to the league title and having 8 points advantage over 2nd -placed Galatasaray with 14 games their would be more talks about it if its get league title at the end of the season.
