What happened in Turkish football today? 03.08.2016
Fenerbahce has provided slow and unimpressive football against Monaco.
Fenerbahce has been elimanted from Champions League after losing to Monaco with 3:1 scoreline during 3rd qualifying round 2nd leg game despite of high potentiality of getting to next stage after winning with 2:1 scoreline at the 1st leg.
Fenerbahce has provided lots of dissapointments after today's performance and it didnt show any motivation and control of the game against Monaco. It looked like it didnt prepare to game at all and its minds where somewhere else which could be clearly seen especially last minutes of the game when it needed to provide the best performance of whole game. At least of providing attacks at the front of the goal and providing fast paced football it allowed to dominate slow tempo game which was suitable for Monaco. In fact, Monaco has played into tempo its wanted during whole game due of setting it but also Fenerbahce having trouble at raising. It found important goals which it needed and later dominated game at the pace which should let them pass. Of course, quitness of Monaco fans and not allowing Fenerbahce fans to the game fact did affect to their performance as it didnt get extra motivation but this is not such good excuse.
Monaco has provided better football and was prepared much better to a game but as been stated Fenerbahce has also with slow pace football has helped Monaco to have task to be taken easier possibly easier than their expected themselves.
Fenerbahce as in last season now would compete at the Europa League play-off waiting for the weaker potential opponent on Friday and possibly if both to Basaksehirspor and Osmanlispor qualify tomorrow it could have potentially 4 teams at the Europa League.
Basaksehirspor needs to be focussed if it wants to get to the play-off stage of the Europa League.
Basaksehirspor would come out to the Europa League 3rd qualifying round 2nd leg game against Rijeka with a target at winning the game as it would start game from scratch since 1st leg game ended with goalless draw.
However, to achieve this task Basaksehirspor needs to improve with this performance from 1st leg at its game in the Croatia as it didnt provide enough good performance which could lead them at the winning the game apart of the last minute. Taking account that away game would be harder with the supporters of the Rijeka, it should have a bit more better performance at the game tomorrow. Basaksehirspor is known to provide good performance in times when it matters so it could use that experience which it gained especially to the Super League games but it does need to provide full focussed game as small mistake could result them being eliminated in such early stage.
Basaksehirspor and Rijeka are in similar strength as the scoreline and performance of two teams shows at 1st leg but playing away it should focus to the game in Croatia.
Osmanlispor should see Kalju game as every other game it had before.
Osmanlispor is coming to the Europa League 3rd qualifying round 2nd leg game against Kalju with 1 goal advantage which it had scored in Ankara which should be good advantage against the team which is weaker than them.
But main issue for the Osmanlispor is its inexperience at playing away at the Europa League which could provide psychological tension in the game at the Tallinn. Therefore, its mainly important not to lose that concentration as in general team is much stronger and with Osmanlispor playing its best football it should not have any issues. Therefore it is important for a team to be fully focussed into game and doesnt need to show that it is worried at the game to Kalju and given them motivaitonal boost which Kalju would likely to use as it did against Maccabi Haifa.
Therefore, Osmanlispor should need to forget that its playing away game in Europa League and treat game mentally as every other game and with that it will not have much problems.
