What happened in Turkish football today? 27.05.2016

Galatasaray ends season with the cup title despite of poor season.

Galatasaray has ended 2015-16 football season in the Turkey with winning against Fenerbahce at the Turkish Cup final and has ended very dissapointing season with high note. With following win it had reduced chance of having extra year of UEFA ban and hence bring crises at the administrative side of the team and possibly early election.

Galatasaray wanted to win the game as it was seen clearer before the game and it was stated in the preview of the game at our blog that with this in mind Galatasaray was coming out as favourite. It was clear that the tactics of the game was decided taking account into realistic strength and situation of the team as it had provided much attacking football in 1st half and went into defensive side during 2nd half of the game. This could be seen realisation by Jan Olde Riekerink that team is still incapable of playing for 90 minutes. This has allowed Fenerbahce to provide more attacking football but to the luck of Galatasaray there were not dangerous, apart post by Abdoulaye Ba. Galatasaray has played with a plan and with the performance by Fenerbahce it wasnt hard for them to convert that plan into reality.

Galatasaray ends season at the high note and has possibly recieved apology from its otherwise dissapointed fans as it had won Turkish Cup back-to-back for 3 years and also always won Fenerbahce at the cup finals.

Fenerbahce lacked any reaction and organisation at cup final.

Fenerbahce however didnt provide any focus and motivation towards the game and carried on its downside performance since it had lost game to Basaksehirspor and hence lost its Super League title to Besiktas.

The players during whole game didnt provide any signs of reaction and organisation to show that it wanted to win this game. Even when it provided much more attacking football during 2nd half compare to 1st its attacks were still slowly organised and could be stated to be incomplete. The players didnt show any reaction to Galatasaray way of game and all of this complaints after game led by Fenerbahce CEO Aziz Yildirim was once again focussed into other subjects as such as swearing towards club and referees. There are areas which Aziz Yildirim is right however the reaction are not really sportsmanship by him and he is likely to recieve some punishments from Professional Disciplinary Committee so would be decision by Fenerbahce not to come out to cup ceremony.

Fenerbahce CEO Aziz Yildirim did state that Vitor Pereira could stay at the club however media does expect him to be sacked by the team. In my opinion, even through Fenerbahce didnt play at its level in whole season, Pereira should stay and Fenerbahce should get rid of its habit of changing coaches at regular bases as it affects stability at the team.

Osmanlispor are close to sign Zydrunas Karcemarskas

Osmanlispor are close to sign ex- Gaziantepspor goalkeeper Zydrunas Karcesmarskas which could be possibly biggest transfer by mediocre teams at the Super League in this summer transfer window and would big gain for continuing success of the team next season and at the Europa League qualifiers.

There were rumours surrounding past days that Fenerbahce were also among clubs who wanted to purchase him but apart rumours there were not any actions taken. In fact, according to Turkish sports website Sporx, unnamed Fenerbahce administrator has stated that team doesnt plan to buy Karcemarskas. Karcemarskas is among 5 main top goalkeepers at the league and he would big gain to the team.

Osmanlispor purchase, if happens, of Zydrunas Karcemarskas is big transfer for them but it needs to carry on making transfers but it is still early days so we could see some interesting transfer stories and contracts made during summer.
