What happened in Turkish football today? 11.04.2016
Besiktas wins its first game at the Vodafone Arena.
Besiktas has managed to win its first game at its most-awaited stadium Vodafone Arena with a 3:2 scoreline against Bursaspor. The game had everything what would be suitable for such an historical event including great football, both teams wanting to play good football, tension, penalty kicks and red cards.
One thing which was observed at game that starting from first whistle Besiktas was determined to win the game to bring historical win at its new field and also use an advantage which it got from Fenerbahce loss to Konyaspor. The first goal at the field was scored by Mario Gomez at 21st minute which allowed him to get to history books of the club and Turkish football. Besiktas has controlled most of its game game and Bursaspor was shocked until it made scoreline 1:1. Despite of poor performance at 1st half Bursaspor has shown great fight at the 2nd half and has fought for 3:3 draw. Some also not very good decisions by game referee Baris Simsek has provided extra tension which went into top towards the end of the game with Bursaspor head coach Hamza Hamzaoglu being send to tribune at 88th minute and Besiktas player Ricardo Queresma recieving needless red card after final whistle.
Besiktas has shown that it can use its new stadium as strong advantage as the fans would provide extra push which was observable during today's game for 90 minutes. Possibly gameplay wise field didnt change it, but the push given by supporters would give hard time to its opponents in upcoming games.
Bursaspor meanwhile has shown good reaction after 1:1 and carries on providing impressive football at the Super League. Its target to Europa League could be hard to achieve but it will certainly get some points at the upcoming 6 weeks.
Trabzonspor is slowly becoming team without any target at league
Prior to game against Basaksehirspor, Trabzonspor was setting an eye to getting to the Europa League spot at the end of the season which only seemed to be possible at winning all of the games. However, with the draw it has recieved from one teams at the area, Basaksehirspor it made it task from very difficult to much more difficult.
Our blog has argued several times that Trabzonspor has lost its chance during winter period of the season to get into that zone and it does need to set high targets for last games at the league but in same time their should be very realistic. Trabzonspor determination to achieving this aim was still not shown by players which needed to provide their best as the league is getting into final section and everyone is providing their best performance, especially ones who have targets for this season, and number of this teams are high. Trabzonspor with the result and its position at the standings slowly does become team who is without target in the league and with this performance it is likely to enter last 2-3 games where it will play for formalities.
Trabzonspor administrator does set an eye for Europa League but it is not certain if players believe themselves that their can achieve this target, as the task is tough one with this circumstances.
Galatasaray game is crucial to Fenerbahce and Vitor Pereira.
Fenerbahce will be playing very important derby game against Galatasaray as it is going into very tough period without winning last two games and losing important points for the title race. It also becoming clear that number of players and staff are unhappy with Vitor Pereira style of play.
According to rumours going around Turkish media, number of players has complained about Vitor Pereira performance during Konyaspor game on 9th April. Number of players stated to administrators that Pereira has screamed to them whole game without making it clear what he wanted from them.
The result against Galatasaray will first show how much is Fenerbahce is inside title race and also might figure out future of the head coach Vitor Pereira at the club. This blog has defended Pereira several times but the league came into position where its time for coaches to make decision which bring results and if this is failed than his performance is rightly be questioned.
Vitor Pereira in game against Galatasaray should only aim for win in the sense of his destiny and destiny of club in this season. Adding that we have Galatasaray is having poor season, loss would bring lots of questions towards Pereira.

Akhisar Belediyespor 0:1 Kasimpasa
