What ahppened in Turkish football today? 13.04.2016

Long-awaited derby has dissapointed its viewers with performances of two teams.

Super League derby game between Galatasaray and Fenerbahce has ended with 0:0 scoreline and didnt fulfill with much excitement in the sense of gameplay to the supporters and neutral viewers.

Game was played in the way that both teams looked their were happy with the draw result.
Surely, the draw result has provided more damage to Fenerbahce as it lost another 2 important points during its title race and has now provided 5 point advantage to Besiktas with 6 weeks to go at the league. Fenerbahce has provided high number of attacks but had troubles at converting them with last assists or last touch shots. It looked like players didnt know how to provide needed shots at the last touches. Meanwhile, Galatasaray has provided similar game as it did in previous games and even through it did have control in some moments of the game it had troubles to use effectively and has played slow football with low motivation. Another worrying part of Fenerbahce that in game-wise it slowly playing like Galatasaray with low number of having good attacks and start losing motivation in the time when it was needed.

It could be too harsh to state that Fenerbahce has lost its chances to become champions but this draw has made their task much more harder as it is 5 points behind of Besiktas right now. One thing is certain for Fenerbahce is it needs to start winning games and start converting attacks into goals or it can forget title at the end of the season.

Galatasaray fate didnt change after the game apart of not satisfying its supporters, it still plays like it did in previous football and showing worrying signs of having low motivation and focus. Only aim left for Galatasaray this season is to get Turkish Cup.

Turkish Football Federation has changed date of end of the league to 19th May.

Turkish Football Federation has made another interesting decision as prior to the 6 weeks until the end of the Super League it has announced that league final day has been moved from Sunday 22nd May to Thursday 19th May and has done some changes to the last 4 weeks fixture and Turkish Cup 2nd leg Turkish Cup games and moving final from 25th May to 26th May.

The decision was made due of preparation and friendly period for Turkish National Team for Euro2016. As expected, Club's Union CEO Goksel Gumusdag has criticised following decision stating that all of the teams has been planned its actions following to previous programme and it would affect negatively to the teams which have different aims until end of the season. It was pretty foolish by TFF back in last summer to plan this season in such a way pretending like Turkish National Team will not make into Euro2016 finals and is in fact only league of participants at European Championship which ends that late. Another interesting notes that last week will take place at the same day of the UEFA Europa League final which will not affect to the league, but this "crush" didnt take place previously at the league history.

With some decisions Turkish Football Federation seems to be taken too fast actions which includes initial planning of the season and revised edition. Finishing last week also at weekday is an interesting decision and is unusual for supporters as it would affect celebrations.

Fikret Orman statement about Hamza Hamzaoglu is just disrespectful.

Besiktas CEO Fikret Orman has made an interesting statement about Bursaspor head coach Hamza
Hamzaoglu stating that his opponent was more motivated and willing at the game against Besiktas, compare to other games. Following statement surely made a shock around Turkish media and Bursaspor.

Even through Orman has stated that this statement was actually due of anger which was shown by Hamzaoglu, it does provide an image that Besiktas expected that Bursaspor will allow them to win. If the football was played like that than it would not be great sport it is and champions of the season would be clear at the end of the season before it even started. This kind of statements surely can only be made in Turkey and it needs to be stopped urgently. This statements can be said by fans but by not by CEO of the clubs and does not show respect to its opponent.

One thing is certain, if Besiktas wants to become champions it doesnt need to rely into opponents and try to win with its own performances.
