What happened in Turkish football today? 03/05/2022

Galatasaray CEO election will be taking place on 11th June.

Galatasaray has announced that CEO election would be taking place on 4th June, and if majority is not gathered it would be moved to 11th June as court made it illegal to be having election on 30th April.

Galatasaray has been going through pretty active period at administration board especially after administration of current CEO Burak Elmas has not been approved by members. Even through Burak Elmas openly did accept that he is being unwanted man,has called for an early election straight away but interestingly there have been complaints to cancel election even after arbitration court has ruled out. In the week prior to election, Firat Deviroglu has complained to court again and without time for complaint to be given to administrative board it didnt take place. Right now, new date for election has been put to 4th-11th June, with Burak Elmas could be running as CEO candidate but there are rumours that he doesnt consider to be running.

Therefore, new date is being on 11th June and there is possibility for some activity to taking place at the club until then.

Firat Dervisoglu has announced his candidacy for Galatasaray CEO election.

Meanwhile, person who send complaints to cancel Galatasaray CEO election on 30th April, has also announced that he would be running for position.

Such an announcement brings into talks which been made by Galatasaray CEO candidates Metin Ozturk and Esref Hamamcioglu that all this action of moving dates of CEO election has been for preparation to have 3rd candidate. With Firat Dervisoglu who was asking to postpone election announcing his candidacy does make those worries to be true. Both candidates did promise that they would be going after that candidate if it would be announced, and hence both Ozturk and Hamamcioglu are very likely not to give easy time to Dervisoglu but it would be expected for him to even through him being underdog in election would be also giving strong words to his opposition.

For sure, Dervisoglu announcement despite of being underdog would make this pre-election period to be interesting and exciting.

Galatasaray considers to terminate contract with Domenec Torrent within week

Staying with Galatasaray, whose news is being dominated, there are reports that Burak Elmas considers to end contract with Domenec Torrent within this week after he has criticised side for not providing enough information when he joined side.

Torrent has stated that when he has joined side there were not any single information given to him by the club at analytical aspect either throwing ball to administration or ex-coach Fatih Terim. It is likely that his accusations are being justified but such way into informing is being direct criticism and it would be expected for side to have some action towards him. Its not clear if this would be case of him living side for last 3 games in the season, as it is speculation, but it is likely for him to get some action against him from club.

It is also reported that he would be replace with academy coach Hakan Balta for last 3 games if it would be case.
