What happened in Turkish football today? 02/05/2022

Besiktas needed to show confident game against Kayserispor

Besiktas has kept its low chances for Conference League as we are entering to last 3 weeks of the Super League as it is being 6 points behind 4th place Basaksehirspor.

Even through the chances for Besiktas to end season with European football is being reduced to very low, it still needed to send strong message against Kayserispor both to show it is fighting for that spot and also get confidence and motivation prior to Fenerbahce derby game. It needs to be mentioned that Besiktas didnt have very good start of the game with showing passive game on 1st half but did show some improvement during 2nd half where it has provided much more pressure to Kayserispor goal and has found 3 goals. Therefore, it could be mentioned that Valerien Ismael did have effective talks on changing room but start has been poor.

Besiktas is getting further and could even lose chance for European football for next season prior to Fenerbahce, so it could be lacking of motivation for that game compare to opponents.

Galatasaray is lacking to focus into last games of the season.

Galatasaray continues to be coming out to formality games in the league as it did come to Sivasspor who are in the similar position as them at the league, but need to keep in form for Turkish Cup. Therefore loss from Galatasaray is being expected.

Galatasaray without doubt does come with focus to win game in their heads, but due of this game being just formalities and side without any aims does affect negatively. Galatasaray has failed to get upper hand of the game for 90 minutes without providing too much pressure to Sivasspor despite of finding 2 goals with Bafetembi Gomis. Sivasspor looked to be much more creative and effective at the front and without doubt did get deserved win against Galatasaray.

Galatasaray is more focussed into administrative aspects rather then on field, and this would also affect to its performance.

Trabzonspor considers to extend contract of Abdullah Avci until 2025

Trabzonspor are expected to extend contract with its head coach Abdullah Avci for 2 more years with rise of salary from 6.5 million TL to 8.5 million TL.

Without doubt, Abdullah Avci even through didnt have very good month of April with providing some scare that title might be going from their hands, in overall did provide good performance during this season and also previous season with showing also some good statistical game. Therefore, it would be expected for club to extend contract with him and without doubt with Avci being used at the team and knowing what are aims of the side and having good tactical game would be able to let Trabzonspor to continue its strong performance and be title contender for upcoming season without doubt. Extending contract until 2025 with rise of his salary is for sure being right decision.

Abdullah Avci has played an important role for this title and as been noted Trabzonspor is doing right thing for extending his contract in near future.
