What happened in Turkish football today? 23/05/2022

Trabzonspor ends season with loss as its been mentally in holiday.

Champions Trabzonspor ends season with loss to Basaksehirspor, which without doubt did have much bigger aim of getting last spot of Conference League and did show game according to that during 1st half.

If Basaksehirspor did start game with high concentration and and attacking game which led them to find 3 goals in duration of 1st half, Trabzonspor did come out with relaxed mood and without providing much pressure and positive game. It did improve slightly in 2nd half with creating chances and faster tempo, but still wasnt on level. Such performance from Trabzonspor could be understandably as mentally season been ended for them and when playing against side which did need to get win such outcome would be seen quite natural.

Despite of losing last game of the season, Trabzonspor did dominate season and once again did win well-deserved title after 38 years of waiting.

Turkish National Team squad for Nations League has been announced.

Turkish National Team squad has been announced for Nations League League C 1st group games by Stefan Kuntz as team is expected to get confident results in 4 games as it is being at the league which it doesnt need to be.

Among regular players, there were some additions to the squad of players who did come out for 1st time which include Ferdi Kadioglu, Dogan Alemdar, Tiago Cukur and Cenk Ozkacar who did have great season and also are young players who only recently did compete for youth sides. Ferdi Kadioglu meanwhile, whose attempts to get Turkish citizenship been actively going lately, has been selected for 1st time as it would be expected that he would be continuing similar performance at Turkish National Team as he did with Fenerbahce during whole season.

Without doubt, this has been strong squad which could get some good performance and results against its opponents in June.

Hatayspor accepts Omer Erdogan resignation

Hatayspor has accepted resignation of its head coach Omer Erdogan, which been seen as big surprise on previous day as he stated that he would leaving side when taking account that he did show good performance in last 2 years at team.

When making statement following game against Goztepe, it did look like Omer Erdogan has been out of morale and motivation for this team which could be due of tiredness and difficulties which possibly did go through even through Erdogan did state that this wasnt case and there is no sign it was. Possibly he didnt see as chance to develop as coach in the team or just tiredness from coaching in overall and he is looking for rest. Taking account what achievement he had in recent 2 seasons with side which did compte at Super League in same duration, it would be reasonable to accept high interest towards him in summer.

It would be interesting to see what would happen to Omer Erdogan during summer period and we would follow his career path.
