What happened in Turkish football today? 16/03/2021

Besiktas reached to Turkish Cup final with beating Basaksehirspor after additional time.

Besiktas has reached to Turkish Cup final game after beating Basaksehirspor with 3:2 scoreline once again but compare to league game it needed to be getting this outcome with 120 minutes.

It needs to be noted that Besiktas did show two different halves in duration of 90 minutes as it shown very good game during 1st half with finding two early goals with Vincent Aboubakar and Domagoj Vida until 22nd minute but did lose this  high tempo during 2nd half with Basaksehirspor take control of the ball which could be due both of showing some relexation and Basaksehirspor improving their game. With taking account that Besiktas would be playing with Fenerbahce at derby game which does have direct effect into title race on 21st March, therefore it would be dissapointing for Sergen Yalcin to play this tough game to 120 minutes. Still, Besiktas did turn around during extra-time once again with finding goal with Cyle Larin and in general being side which did provide strong performance during extra-time and in general being better side apart of 2nd half. Besiktas would be glad to be getting into Turkish Cup getting step closer for ending this season with both Super League and Turkish Cup.

Basaksehirspor on they part it needs to be noted didnt start game as it did during whole game with looking to be too slow and with conceding 2 early goals and not showing much reaction at short notice did provide view that Besiktas would be getting an easy win. However, in positive note for them Basaksehirspor did manage to get upper hand in 2nd half with being more organised at defence and with providing much stronger attacking game which led them to find 2 goals both with Deniz Turuc and Giuliano, equalising from 2:0 loss and bringing game to extra-time. In fact, Basaksehirspor did start game pretty well during extra-time but did concede goal from Larin. Even through side did aim to respond from conceding goal looking for opportunities but didnt manage to provide pressure to Besiktas goal. Basaksehirspor hence didnt manage to get into Turkish Cup final and would now focus into keeping themselves in the league as it still being close to relegation zone.

Besiktas did provide pretty good game apart of 2nd half an deservedly got into Turkish Cup final but would be feeling dissapointed for game to go 120 minutes as it would meet with Fenerbahce on 21st March.

Alanyaspor is being favourite against Antalyaspor.

Second semi-final game of Turkish Cup would be taking place between Antalyaspor and Alanyaspor, which is being Antalya municipality derby game, as both sides also has met at last weekend in similar manner as other semi-final.

With taking account how Alanyaspor is performing in the Super League and also winning league game with 4:0 scoreline without doubt would be putting them into favourite for such team as side does focus into providing positive attacking game which is being opposite of their opponents. With Alanyaspor does seem to be far from getting European route while Turkish Super League being behind Trabzonspor with 6 points would provide still some extra motivation for such game. This factors of good form compare to opponent meanwhile without doubt does provide extra motivation for side which would provide them as favourites.

Therefore, Alanyaspor would be coming out to game with high motivation aiming to get into Turkish Cup final with providing strong attacking game.

Antalyaspor would need to show defensive game against Alanyaspor.

As been noted, Antalyaspor when coming to form and overall confidence and motivation are not being at some form as Alanyaspor but of course with game being 1-game away from final would likely provide some belief and motivation.

Taking account that Alanyaspor does mainly focus into openning performance which their did show during last game winning it 4:0, Antalyaspor would be likely to be more focussed into being much more careful with defensive and likely be focussed into slowing down opponent with looking into opportunities with counter-attacks, with being side which would like for game to take longer then 90 minutes and go until penalty to some extend. This focus into defensive game could hence provide some hope to get into Turkish Cup final this season when taking differences between sides.

Antalyaspor hence would be needed to focus mainly into defensive game to get crucial result against attacking Alanyaspor side.
