What happened in Turkish football today? 10/09/2019

Turkey has got confident and calm win against Moldova

Turkish National Team has got an important and calm win against Moldova with providing much more better attacking game which led team to find 4 goals without conceding any in this game. With also Iceland losing surprisingly to Albania, Turkey has got 3 point advantage for 2nd spot.

Following not very good performance against Andorra few days ago it was worried that Turkey would have similar problems with Moldova and it needs to be admitted that Turkey  did have some issues at first 20 minutes when Moldova has shown balanced game with creating some chances but after 20 minutes, Turkey has got upper hand and with opponent losing concentration has led Turkey to provide much more forward seeking game which led for good goal by Cenk Tosun. Meanwhile, Tosun has looked to be pretty poor in previous game has been more willing which to some extend has helped for Moldova to provide much more open style game. This win for Turkey  and also loss of Iceland certainly would raise motivation to team and have strong belief at getting to Euro2020 proper. It needs to be noted also that despite of 4 goals Turkey didnt raise tempo a lot and has provided strong but patient game which did play an important role without doubt for this win.

Moldova did come out to provide an open game without being scared much against Turkey and did create few chances at start of game but differences at the quality football between both sides. Moldova deserve praise for positive style game but sadly for them it has limited strength.

Turkey has managed its main task of last two games with gaining 6 points and its been good bonus for Iceland to lose points and now team can look in confident manner for rest of Euro2020 qualifier campaign.

Galatasaray administrator Abdurrahim Albayrak has recieved 500,000 TL fine.

Turkish court has provided 500,000 TL fine to Galatasaray administrator Abdurrahim Albayrak due of his statement following last season when he stated that TFF are doing some actions against them implying that it aims to make Basaksehirspor as champions.

It needs to be reminded that Albayrak during that statement mentioned that his has details which he would announce in upcoming days but never did. After that statement everyone involved at Turkish football, especially Basaksehir has called for him and also club to make statement or otherwise this words does recognise truth. With as been mentioned statement never came criminal court has made decision to provide fines to club. This decision most importantly would likely lead Galatasaray to be more careful with this kind of statements as it arleady done it this season, talking about some professional actions against them without providing too much proof. As been mentioned before hand, it can defend itself but it needs to make statements.

This decision is direct message that their cant throw claims without any proves and time would show if their would learn lesson.

Daniel Sturridge expects to start against Genclerbirligi.

Trabzonspor player Daniel Sturridge has provided some impressive and active performance during training session and expected to start this weekend if allowed by coach.

There has been lots of talks about if Sturridge is physically to play games yet even through many people wait for him to play as he was signed to provide high level performance. It does look for now at least that Sturridge showed some impressive performance at training session and could start game this weekend against Genclerbirligi. Being also not specifically difficult opponent it could be great test for Sturridge to show people who would follow game that he is in great form and can show top performance at this club.

There is high expectatition for Sturridge to start game against Genclerbirligi and show top game as he has strong potential.
