What happened in Turkish football today? 22/08/2019

Caleb Ekuban has played an important step for Trabzonspor to get to Europa League group stage.

Trabzonspor has won an important away game against AEK Athens during Europa League play-off round with 3:1 scoreline thanks to the Caleb Ekuban hat-trick and hence has got an important advantage to get to the tournament group stage.

It needs to be admitted that Trabzonspor didnt show great start of the game as it has conceded an early goal from Livaja and AEK has got an upper hand but as game has progressed Trabzonspor start showing its stregth to an opponent and also has got penalty which wasnt converted by Sosa. As it did look like that it might not perfect game for Trabzonspor, at 29th minute Caleb Ekuban has found a goal which helped team to get an upper hand. With Caleb Ekuban has provided an attacking game and has been hungry to find even more goals as he has found other two goals and possibly has played an important role for team to get into group stage. Stating that it needs to be admitted that whole team has provided good performance in overall and has been looking for chances as game has been progressed. It was expected that Trabzonspor will have tough time at Greece but it has shown great performance and got upper hand at the tie.

AEK Athens meanwhile has shown great start of the game looking for chances and finding an early goal but as Trabzonspor has raised its performance it wasnt able to stop its opponents and also Caleb Ekuban. With strong supporters at Trabzonspor stadiums, AEK does have difficult task for 2nd leg.

Trabzonspor has got probably more it could have asked for and now it needs to be focussed for 2nd leg to get into group stage without making unexpected mistakes.

Besiktas will be aiming to get a win after loss from opening week.

Besiktas would be aiming to provide much better performance at its home ground compare to last week, as it going to meet against Goztepe who also didnt have great start but always have potential to show good results.

Besiktas without doubt has provided dissapointing performance at its opening week against Sivasspor as it has lost to 3:0 and even through such a loss due of being 1st game of the season might not provide much panic mood, team certainly cant afford to lose points for 2 weeks back-to-back especially at home ground. Besiktas hence would be aiming to provide much more agressive and forward-seeking game which seemed to be most important aspect which has been missing against Sivasspor. Goztepe who also lost their openning game, as been stated at entrance is dangerous team but to some extend it needs to be remembered that it does struggle against big clubs when playing away. It does look like main aim for Besiktas to get a win is to provide much more attacking game and that could trick for 3 points.

Besiktas didnt satisfy with its openner of this season so it would be aiming to improve its performance against Goztepe for sure.

Besiktas has transferred Georges-Kevin N'Koudou for 4 years.

At the transfer front, Besiktas has made an important transfer of Tottenham Hotspur player Georges-Kevin N'koudou for 4 years who can provide an important help to the team at defence front for this season without doubt.

Even through N'Koudou didnt recieve high amopunt of playing time during past season at Tottenham, whenever he did play he has always shown top performance and hence could be seen as player above level of Super League if he shows his best performance. Among areas which Besiktas has been aiming to make transfer during this summer has been defence area and it has made an important transfer and also staying within FFP regulations for sure. What is crucial of course in here is for Georges-Kevin N'Koudou do get through adaptation in fast manner as he would be coming to new atmosphere and league and everyone would be hoping that this adaptation would take place at short notice.

Besiktas has transferred an important player for this season and has made important addition at defence area at the field.
