What happened in Turkish football today? 17.10.2016
Fenerbahce players are not used to Dick Advocaat tactics.
Yesterday's Fenerbahce draw against Alanyaspor at the Super League 7th week game has shown that the team poor start at the league carries on and it does have serious issues with performance wise. It is certain that the team is performing much below than it should have to with taking player strength at the squad in this season.
It became visible during the game that the team is having trouble at playing into tactics which team head coach Dick Advocaat is awaiting them to perform. One of those things is that previous head coach Vitor Pereira, in criticising manner, has demanded from players to play more defensive play while Dick Advocaat wants them to provide attacking football. With most players staying from last season it is will be hard for them to get adapted to this new formation, including towards 4-4-2. In fact, number of defenders such as Roman Neustadner and Simon Kjaer seem to feel unusual with such a tactic. It would be harsh to criticise and maybe some time should be given to Advocaat but if this time is given is should be taken account that hopes for this season league title are pretty low right now.
Fenerbahce still has good chance at the Europa League as it is leading at the Group A prior to Manchester United game on 20th October. If it achieves to get at least draw it still has chance to have good European season at least.
Trabzonspor needs to find goals for motivation boost.
Despite of not winning Akhisar Belediyespor during Super League 7th week game, Trabzonspor has shown a good performance at the 2nd half playing forward focus play and was struck by perfect goalkeeping skills by Akhisar player Fatih Ozturk.
Trabzonspor has been criticised a lot in this season and also in previous seasons to playing a slow football without much successful attacks which also could be reason for their poor performance. However, it did come out against Akhisar Belediyespor in more positive mood and has shown that it wanted to win the game with number of dangerous attacks it has created during game. Those attacks might not be well organised but this will to win the game was important especially prior to very crucial game against Galatasaray who are as known are in great form. What does Trabzonspor obviously needs is to win games and start scoring goals in each game, regardless of the results, as goals would raise motivation which team is seem to be lacking of currently.
Trabzonspor as been mentioned will play against Galatasaray and yesterday's performance might not be enough for beating them but Trabzonspor always provided good performance against Istanbul clubs apart of some exceptions. Therefore, it needs to stay focussed to the game.
Besiktas administration have trust and patience with Vincent Aboubakar.
There are lots of criticism from Besiktas front towards its player Vincent Aboubakar, who is loaned from Porto for 1-year, with his lacking of finding goals including from simple positions.
It needs to be reminded that Aboubakar was bought as an alternative to the Mario Gomez and Demba Ba and hence administration and fans were expecting for him to score goals. However, with 7 weeks passing he still didnt find single goal despite of having very good chances. There are rumours that team might consider sending him back to Porto and find some alternatives during transfer period in mid-season, however administration are showing good support on him. In fact, Besiktas general secretary Ahmet Urkmezgil has made clear during today's interview to Turkish sports radio station that those rumours of finding alternatives are not representing the truth. It does look like in reverse Besiktas would provide high support for Aboubakar to raise his mood.
It is important to note that as with most of the players, when Vincent Aboubakar will find his first goal it could follow with much more, regardless how he scores that goal.
