What happened in Turkish football today? 10.10.2016

Fatih Terim is losing touch with a team in tactical manner.

Turkish National Team has started this World Cup Qualifying with obtaining 2 draws and 1 loss and without winning any single game so far and hence opening point difference from Croatia and Iceland with 5 points and Ukraine 3 points, finding itself at the 4th place with only 2 points.

As would been expected the Turkish sports media has been very critical with performance by the head coach Fatih Terim and his tactical decisions. As it is known from the viewers of the game yesterday tactically Turkey has started game without forward players and used Emre Mor as a single attacking player. This was surely a wrong decision as he it is not his strong area and he couldnt also recieve good passes from his teammates. The game was focussed into midfielding areas with 6 of the being at the field, however as none of them could be referred as defensive midfielders, Iceland didnt have much trouble to get through midfield and creating chances at the Turkey goalkeeper Volkan Babacan spot. In fact, among playing more active game, Iceland has provided great tactical player which surely affected to the performance. Iceland could have won game in much more easier way.

Turkish national team head coach Fatih Terim looks to be out-of-touch tactically which affect his gameplay at the game yesterday and he needs to get rid of his ego and start looking ways which could be good for a development of a team and starting getting good results.

Jeremain Lens and Ozan Tufan are injured players at the Fenerbahce.

Another bad news from the game yesterday has been news about injury of the Ozan Tufan who is reportedly will not be able to play a game in next 1.5 - 2 months which is also bad news for Fenerbahce among national team.

Among Ozan Tufan, it became clear that Fenerbahce player Jeremain Lens injury obtained from Europa League 2nd week game against Feyenoord ended up being much more serious than expected and it could be lasting at least until end of this month. Fenerbahce would surely lose 2 of its key players who played an important role at the games where it has won and this factor could affect them negatively especially injury of Jeremain Lens. It is losing two key players for this weekend game against Alanyaspor at the Super League 7th week game but even more crucial it will not have them against Manchester United at the Europa League next week. The team does have chance to find alternatives at the squad but it would affect them negatively.

Still, Fenerbahce did improve recently with Dick Advocaat and would surely give their best and possibly get right results at those games.

Turkish teams needs to develop more focus into youth academy.

During friendly game against Levski Sofia on 8th October, there has been big interest towards
Galatasaray player Mustafa Kapi who is only 14 years old. At the game he has shown very impressive performance and did provide signs of becoming future star of the Turkish football.

Turkey does need right now strong new generation as every country around the world. It is now important for Galatasaray to look after him and do everything to develop him into strong player who could do service for both Turkey and Galatasaray at the future. This player projects has been taken for long time but their were times its been failed for various reasons. However, Galatasaray does have great coach, Jan Olde Riekerink, who among first team gives strong focus towards youth sides. Hence, Mustafa Kapi is very lucky at the team as he has good chance to develop into strong player with strong help of Jan Olde Riekerink.

All of the teams needs to give strong focus for its development of youth sides and try to develop at the academy and if their do that their would big solutions of the clubs and national team and possibly bring new Arda Turan's from Turkish football.
