Besiktas gets to quarter-final with 2nd half performance.
Besiktas gets to the quarter-final of Turkish Cup after beating Antalyaspor at away game in the game which has been played in two different halves as home ground team has controlled 1st half while Besiktas dominated in 2nd half.
This has been most anticipated game at Turkish Cup last 16 stage as Antalyaspor has been in good form during recent weeks and also with Antalyaspor head coach being Sergen Yalcin, legend of Besiktas has also raised lots of excitement. Knowledge of team and capacity of Besiktas did play an important role while Besiktas couldnt respond much during 1st half and didnt provide much resistance and to some extend has been lucky for game to be ended with 1:0 which did come from a bit relaxation of opponent. It has been clear that talks during half-time has been likely both to be harsh and motivating as Besiktas has shown totally different performance as Jackson Muleka who did come out into 2nd half did get an upper hand with scoring 2 goals which did bring quarter-final ticket and also created some chances so in generally it did provide dominance in 2nd half.
Antalyaspor as been noted did provide very strong game during 1st half with creating high chances and did get goal with an organised position but didnt look for 2nd goal in this period which did cost them quarter-final ticket without doubt.
Besiktas hence did get into quarter-final as by some it has been seen as priority for rest of the season but it does need to improve performance in tournament if it wants to win it.
Trabzonspor gets to quarter-final despite being behind at 90 minutes
Trabzonspor has got a ticket to quarter-final of Turkish Cup after beating 1st league side Genclerbirligi despite of actually ending 90 minutes of the game with losing 1:0 but goals at end of additional time and extra time has brought a win.
Foremost, it needs to be mentioned that game has been played unfortunately at very poor conditions which provided some serious issues for both sides but especially Trabzonspor as it been side which did focus into playing positive game on the field. Still, even before it did find equaliser at last minute of the game, it has been side which did create some good chances but did lack of last touches or passing goalkeeper. Therefore, it could be praised for team to keep on fighting as it should when being behind and has been rewarded for fighting with an award for Elmali on last minute of the game which did bring it to extra time. During extra-time it needs to be stated that Trabzonspor gained even more morale and Genclerbirligi losing it and goal at end of 1st extra time of Trezeguet has brought team to quarter-final.
Genclerbirligi has been side which did find first goal relatively on early minutes and did manage to keep its advantage for most time of the game which it should be praised but it did break down easily after conceding in end of the game. Still, it did show good performance both in game and whole campaign.
Trabzonspor hence gets to quarter-final as it aims to win this competition due of poor performance in the season.
Fenerbahce one step closer for defending its title.
Fenerbahce continues its defence of Turkish Cup in good form as it has beaten Gaziantep during last 16 stage with 2:0 scoreline as Michy Batshuayi has scored 2 goals and has shown how important he is to this team.
It needs to be stated that the game has been seen to be tough one for Fenerbahce as league game last month has been turned out pretty tough one but this time Istanbul giant had more control of the game with finding 2 goals during 1st half and looked more confident despite of going through some of the rotation and having some difficulty at football field which wasnt at good condition at all. Gaziantep on their part did create some chances during game but it did look like Fenerbahce did have control of the game and are now focussed to get Turkish Cup at the end of the season as it has high aims in all competitions it competes at. One of the questions for sure is how Batshuayi would be used in upcoming games as he is being in good form.
Fenerbahce hence did get win without much trouble and provided pretty confident and controllable game for sure.
